The major purpose of this research is to design a focused-oriented skills learning program for primary school students and to examine the effects of the program on the students mental health,academic emotion and interpersonal environment.The research is divided into two parts.The first part: a focused-oriented skills learning program is designed based on the solution-focused education theory and the characteristics of the psychological development of primary school students.The second part: an experimental design of completely random grouping before and after testing.In a primary school in Wenling,228 fifth grade students in six classes were selected.They were randomly divided into a experimental group and a control group.The students in the experimental group received the skill learning program once a week and 40 minutes each time.While the students in the control group received daily psychological courses.At the end of the program,through quantitative and qualitative analysis,the effects of this program on the students mental health,academic emotion and interpersonal environment were tested.The quantitative results are:(1)behavior scores and six dimensions scores of experimental group were significantly decreased after the intervention,three dimensions scores were not decreased significantly after intervention;The control group showed no significant change on their behavior problems total score during the experiment.The post-test scores of experimental group were much lower than the post-test scores of control group.Well-being score and four dimensions scores of the experimental group were significantly improved after the intervention;The control group showed no significant change on well-being total score during the experiment.The post-test scores of the experimental group were much higher than the post-test scores of the control group;(2)positive academic emotion scores and eight dimensions scores of the experimental group were significantly improved after the intervention;In the control group,the satisfaction dimension was significantly reduced,there was not obvious change on positive academic emotion total score during the experiment.The post-test scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than the post-test scores of the control group;(3)the interpersonal environment of the class score and three dimensions scores of the experimental groupwere significantly improved after intervention;The control group had no significant change on the interpersonal environment during the experiment.The post-test scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than the post-test scores of the control group.The qualitative study confirmed the conclusion of quantitative data analysis,showing that the experimental group improved students level in mental health,academic emotion and interpersonal environment of the class.We can draw the following conclusions based on the research results:1.The focus-oriented skill learning program is effective in improving the mental health level of primary school students;but the effect on reducing their physical problems,thinking problems and sexual problems is not obvious.2.The focus-oriented skills learning program is effective in improving the positive academic emotion of primary school students;While the effect of increasing sense of interest is moderate.3.The focus-oriented skill learning program is effective in improving the interpersonal environment for the students.
