The 21 st century is an era of informationization,digitization and intelligence,the rapid update of information and the rapid development of science and technology not only provide more opportunities for development of human society,but also put forward higher requirements for talent training.In the future,education will inevitably cultivate talents with "High-order" thinking or "productive" thinking.As a comprehensive ability based on a higher level of cognition,high-order thinking skills is mainly composed of problem solving skill,decisionmaking skill,critical thinking skill and innovation skill and it is a necessary skill for learners to adapt to the development of the new era.“The state council on deepening the reform of the examination recruitment system implementation opinions” promulgated in 2014 clearly points out that the reform of the content of the college entrance examination should be deepened,and the content of the proposition should be scientifically designed.The “Core Qualities of Chinese Students' Development” published in 2016 points out that it focuses on cultivating students' abilities of rational thinking,problem solving,critical questioning,diligent reflection,courageous inquiry,and self-management.In the context of education informatization and the new college entrance examination,cultivating students' high-order thinking skills is a core requirement for students' growth and development,and it is also an implementation measure for cultivating students' core qualities,which reflects the current educational goals of China.Therefore,how to cultivate students' higher-order thinking skills in subject teaching has naturally become the subject of extensive research by educators.The research mainly explores how to cultivate students' higher-order thinking skills based on high school geography teaching.By referring to the research literature on higher-order thinking skills at home and abroad,the article combs the connotation,training methods and evaluation methods of higher-order thinking skills.Guided by constructivist theory,Bloom's cognitive classification theory,Dewey's theory of thinking and high order learning theory and based on existing research in other disciplines,combined with the characteristics of high school geography disciplines,the article adapted and formed relevant questionnaires for geography higher-order thinking skills.Through the questionnaire survey,the research learned about the current development status of high-level thinking skills of high school students in geography learning and the current status of teacher training.It found that there are certain problems in the development of current higher-order thinking skills of high school students,mainly as follows: Students' cognitive level is low and it stays at the low level of memory,understanding and application.The overall level of higher-order thinking skills is lower,and the individual differences between students are significant.Students' thinking is solidified and critical spirit is insufficient.Students have a weak sense of independent thinking and poor decision-making ability.At the same time,high school geography teachers lack of in-depth understanding and systematic research on the cultivation of students' higher-order thinking skills,and students' higher-order thinking skills have not been widely and effectively cultivated.Based on the current situation investigation,it is analyzed that the development of students' higher-order thinking skills is affected by many factors such as students themselves,school teaching,and family education.In view of this,this article takes high school geography teaching as an example to study the training strategies of students' higher-order thinking skills and the principles that should be followed in the training.The article sorts out that the cultivation of students' high-order thinking skills in high school geography teaching should follow the principles of subjectivity,enlightenment,encouragement and pertinence,and it points out that the key to cultivate students' higher-order thinking skills lies in teachers' cognition and problem design ability,and puts forward the training strategies to promote the development of students' higher-order thinking ability such as strengthen teachers' training awareness,consolidate the discipline foundation of students,construct a high-level environment conducive to the development of students' thinking,establish geographical issues that point to the development of higher-order thinking skills,set up high-order thinking activities and update the teaching evaluation system,and the strategies are explained with specific cases.According to principles and strategies of cultivating students' high-order thinking skills in geography teaching in senior high school,the teaching design of the " Thermal circulation " is taken as an example to provide a reference for cultivating students' higher-order thinking skills in geography teaching in high school.
