This study is based on Marzano's cognitive target taxonomy and King's high order thinking skill models. It explores the constituent elements of the sixth-grade elementary school students' mathematical high order thinking skills, analyzes the prediction of high order thinking skills using factors such as the use of thinking strategies, and tests the role of the tutoring teaching to promote the sixth-grade elementary school students' high order thinking skills and thinking strategies. This study divided the content into two parts based on the path: "questionnaire investigate—pretest—tutor on high order thinking skill and thinking strategy—post test".Study one through a questionnaire survey to understand the use of mathematical thinking strategies and the current level of high order thinking skills of sixth-grade students in a primary school, and on the basis of this, participants of Study two were selected. The second study based on the high order thinking skills and the thinking strategies counseling plan, adopted quasi experimental design. The experimental group was tutored. The control group only completed classroom exercises within the same time.During the tutoring process, the classroom exercises,pre-and post-test data and the final test scores of the mathematics to quantitatively analyze the use of students' thinking strategies and high order thinking skills.Results:(1)The application of thinking strategies and the measurement of high order thinking skills have good reliability and validity;(2)There is no obvious gender difference in the use of mathematical thinking strategies and high order thinking skills among sixth-grade primary school students;(3)The longer the study time, the more students will use mathematical thinking strategies, and their high order thinking skills will be stronger;(4)The more parents tutoring, the more students will use mathematical thinking strategies, and their high order thinking skills will be stronger;(5)With the advancement of counseling, the use of thinking strategies and high order thinking skills in the experimental group is on the rise;the development ofthinking strategies and high order thinking skills in the experimental group is significantly higher than that of the control group;(6)The use of thinking strategies and the development scores of high order thinking skills can well predict mathematical academic achievements, the development scores of the use of thinking strategies can better predict the development scores of high order thinking skills, and the development scores of high order thinking skills can better predict mathematical academic achievements.Conclusions:(1)The application of primary school mathematical thinking strategies consists of four secondary indicators: simplification, related similar problems, guessing and verification, and regression problems;(2)Elementary mathematics high order thinking skills consists of six secondary indicators: constructing variable relationships, representation transformation, induction, deduction, analogy, and reverse;(3)Teaching guidance can effectively promote the use of thinking strategies and the improvement of higher-order thinking skills of sixth-grade students in primary schools;(4)The development scores of thinking strategies can effectively predict the development scores of high order thinking skills, and the scores development of high order thinking skills can effectively predict the mathematics academic achievement of sixth-grade students.
