Professional adaptation is a dynamic process in which individuals use their own cognition and practice and constantly adjust themselves to achieve a harmonious state between individuals and careers.The professional adaptation of novice teachers in special school for intellectual disability probably is a process influenced by both internal and external factors.This study conducted a questionnaire survey on the current situation of professional adaptation of novice teachers in special school for intellectual disability and its relationship with related influencing factors.This study consists of three parts: Firstly,referring to the research tools on professional adaptation and school organization atmosphere at home and abroad,this study compiled Professional Adaptation Questionnaire for Novice Teachers in Special School for Intellectual Disability and Questionnaire of Atmosphere of Special School for Intellectual Disability.Secondly,it discussed the characteristics of professional adaptation of novice teachers in special school for intellectual disability.Finally,made an in-depth analysis on some relevant factors of the professional adaptation of novice teachers in special school for intellectual disability.The results were as followed:(1)The Professional Adaptation Questionnaire for Novice Teachers in Special School for Intellectual Disability included four dimensions: professional environment adaptation,professional interpersonal adaptation,professional psychological adaptation and professional skill adaptation.The reliability and validity of the questionnaire were in line with psychometric standards,which could be used to measure the professional adaptation level of novice teachers in special school for intellectual disability.The Questionnaire of Atmosphere of Special School for Intellectual Disability included three dimensions: school communication atmosphere,resource support atmosphere and work feedback atmosphere.The reliability and validity of the questionnaire were in line with psychometric standards,which could be used to measure the atmosphere of special school for intellectual disability.(2)The professional adaptation of novice teachers in special school for intellectual disability was at a middle to upper level.There was no significant difference in different teaching ages and whether they are head teachers or not.However,there were significant differences in different genders.The professional adaptation level of novice female teachers was significantly higher than that of male teachers.There were significant differences in different academic qualifications.The professional adaptation level of novice teachers with bachelor degree was significantly higher than that of teachers with postgraduate degree.There were significant differences in different professional backgrounds.The professional adaptation level of novice teachers with special educational background was significantly higher than that of teachers with non-special educational background.There was a significant difference in average monthly income.The professional adaptation level of novice teachers in special school for intellectual disability with average monthly income below 4000 yuan was significantly lower than that of teachers with average monthly income above 4000 yuan.(3)Among the three variables of psychological resilience,school atmosphere and professional pressure,school atmosphere had the most significant predictive effect on the professional adaptation of novice teachers in special school for intellectual disability,followed by psychological resilience on the professional adaptation of novice teachers in special school for intellectual disability.Specifically,self-improvement,tenacity and optimism in psychological resilience could significantly positively predict their professional adaptation level.The school communication atmosphere,resource support atmosphere and work feedback atmosphere in school atmosphere could significantly positively predict their professional adaptation level.In this study,the professional pressure of novice teachers in special school for intellectual disability was at a middle to lower level,and the role pressure in professional pressure could significantly positively predict their professional adaptation level.
