Reading is one of the most basic abilities of human learning,and reading teaching plays an important role in junior high school Chinese teaching.However,as we all know,in-class reading and teaching are limited.It is necessary for students to take up out-of-class reading in order to broaden their views of knowledge and promote their all-round development,which can adapt them to the requirements of today's society.However,the books read after class are vast and the contents are of varying quality,which mean that there are many kinds of books with good or bad contents and deep or shallow contents.Clearly,it isn't always easy for students to choose what to read.Therefore,under the circumstances,the Chinese teachers should act as an intermediary,who carry out extended reading teaching,link up in-class reading and out-of-class reading.The extended reading mentioned here does not leave the textbook content aside.It refers to a teaching method in which the Chinese teachers,based on the curriculum standards and teaching plans,take the knowledge points in class as the reading basis and extend from the inside to the outside so as to make the function of the Chinese extracurricular reading play a full role and form a complementary teaching method with the in-class reading.Junior high school students have a certain reading foundation and time guarantee,so it is feasible to carry out extended reading in junior high school.To carry out the teaching of Chinese extended reading,we must choose the extended reading works.The selection of extended reading works should follow four principles,namely,the control of reading quantity,the control of reading difficulty,the control of correlation and the control of time and frequency.There are four dimensions in the selection of extended reading works in junior middle school,namely,the extension of works,the extension of writers,the extension of themes and the extension of genres.The implementation plan of extended reading teaching in junior high school includes the construction of extended reading works library and the specific implementation of extended reading teaching.The implementation is divided into three parts,namely,extended reading instruction,student reading,student reporting and teacher evaluation.Extended reading teaching can consolidate students' in-class knowledge,cultivate students' interest in reading,improve students' reading ability,and comprehensively improve students' language literacy.
