This study uses the enrollment rate, gender equality index, conditional probability and other indicators to analyze the overall gender differences in UK higher education, the gender differences at different levels of education, and the differences in gender distribution between different disciplines, and explore the gender differences in UK higher education enrollment opportunities since World War II.The trajectory of change. The results show that in the process of expanding the scale of higher education in the UK,both male and female students have a greater chance of receiving higher education, especially for girls. In the 1950 s and 1970 s,girls' enrollment opportunities were less than half that of boys, and the gender gap in UK higher education enrollment opportunities was very different. From the 1970 s to the mid-1980 s,as girls' enrollment opportunities increased, the gender differences in higher education enrollment opportunities narrowed. After the mid-1990 s,the gender ratio of higher education opportunities began to reverse, and girls' higher education enrollment opportunities began to outpace boys.Since the 21 st century, the advantages of girls' access to higher education have continued to emerge. At different levels of education, from the 1950 s to the mid-1990 s,boys had more opportunities for enrollment at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels than girls, but after the mid-1990 s,girls began to outnumber boys, and since the 21 st century, girls have undergraduate and graduate degrees. The level of admission opportunities is in an advantage, and the advantages are more and more obvious. In the subject area, the phenomenon of “more boys choose engineering and girls to choose humanities” still exists, but the distribution of male and female students has gradually broadened. The phenomenon that “boys are concentrated in science and girls are distributing in art” has disappeared.Since the 21 st century, male and female students have become homogenized in their professional choices, and gender barriers in the subject area have been gradually broken.
