Content: This paper mainly studies the tone acquisition of Nepalese students with zero basic Chinese in elementary school. This article uses the method of follow-up investigation. We selected 20 Nepalese elementary school students(10males and 10 females)as objects, and studied their acquisition of Chinese vocabulary three times, and recorded each stage separately. Then,by the method of experimental phonetics, the fundamental frequency values of monophonic words are extracted, and their tonal acquisition characteristics and progress are investigated based on the fundamental frequency values. The paper is divided into five parts: The first part is the introduction, which mainly introduces the reasons, significance, research methods, etc. It also introduces a brief description of the current state of Chinese teaching in Nepal and the Chinese teaching situation of the schools where the survey respondents are located. The second part is the first stage of single-tone experimental data analysis and comparative analysis about male and female students, which are carried out from the pitch and duration respectively. The third part is the analysis and comparative analysis of male and female single tone data in the second stage, and based on this,it is compared with the first stage. The fourth part is the analysis and comparative analysis of male and female single-tongue data in the third stage.Based on this,it is compared with the second stage and compared with the pronunciation of native Chinese speakers. The fifth part shows the reasons for the errors in the tone learning of elementary school students in Nepal and proposes corresponding teaching strategies. This paper finds that in the initial stage of learning(the first stage),Nepalese elementary school students have a good grasp of the Shangsheng in the tone and value, they are closer to the pronunciation of Mandarin native speakers. Most students know the Yinping tone pattern, but they are not sure about the pitch, and their pronunciation is generally low. Most students know that the pitch of Yangping and Qusheng is high, but they can't grasp the type adjustment. After 9 months of learning,by the time of the third recording, their sound was still more accurate. The pronunciation of the Yinpingtone has improved significantly. On the basis of grasping the tone pattern, the pitch has become more pronounced. Therefore they are closer to the pronunciation of native Mandarin speakers.Yangping has also made significant progress, and most students have adjusted it to a rising tone,so it is closer to the pronunciation of Mandarin native speakers. But there is no obvious improvement in the pronunciation of the Qusheng. In addition,in terms of sound length,Nepalese students generally pronounce monosyllabic words shorter than Chinese students. This paper also conducted a listening test on tones. The results found that the tone with higher error rate in Nepalese primary school students is the Yangping, and theYangping is easily heard as Shangsheng and Qusheng tones.
