The mental health of adolescents has been paid more and more attention,and the negative effects of depression make it necessary to discuss and study the depression of adolescents.The pursuit and acquisition of the sense of life meaning is conducive to awakening the depressed individuals' hope for life.Parents as important others of teenagers,the attachment quality of parents will affect the main pursuit of gaining the sense of meaning of life.In adolescence,companions gradually become the main role of individuals in social communication,and the role of individuals' attachment to companions in this process cannot be ignored.Whereas previous studies have explained the relationship between the three variables,this study attempts to explore whether attachment quality between an individual and his or her father or mother can influence depression through a sense of life meaning.In this study,600 first-year senior high school students were investigated by questionnaire to explore the characteristics of peer attachment,meaning of life,depression symptoms and their relationship.The following conclusions are drawn:(1)The depression level of high school students was generally mild,and the depression score of high school girls was significantly higher than that of boys.(2)The average score of high school students' life meaning is above average,and they have a good perception of life.The score of meaning pursuit dimension is significantly higher than that of meaning possession.Students with major depression had significantly lower scores in their sense of life meaning than other groups.(3)The attachment quality of high school students to their parents and peers is generally good.The score of partner attachment was significantly higher than that of mother attachment,while the score of father attachment was the lowest.The attachment of female students to their peers is significantly higher than that of male students.The attachment of only children to their mothers was significantly higher than that of non-only children.The scores of students without depression were significantly higher than those of the other three groups.(4)Meaning pursuit plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between father attachment,mother attachment and peer attachment to depression.
