Reading is an important way of community education and learning.In reading circle,the leader of reading circle is the key factor.However,due to the diverse background,complex structure and lack of basic standards,the effectiveness of reading circles is often instable.Therefore,this study focuses on the development of competency standards for reading circle leaders to provide solutions for the professionalization of reading circle leaders.In this study investigates reading circle leaders who have participated in training from professional lecturers of structured reading circle by the methods of task analysis,in-depth interview and participative observation.The standard consists of three levels of activity domain,mission-critical and competence.The major findings of this study are:?.The first level of the competence standard of reading circle leader includes 11 duties which are the whole activity planning,organizing a group,preparing reading medium,design leading scheme,preparation activities,warm-up activities,theme activities,end activities,evaluation after the meeting,outward learning and cultivation inward.?.The second level of the competence standard of reading circle leader includes 42 key tasks.For example,there are six key tasks in a themed activity: asking good questions,inspiring dialogue and guide,running through group dynamics to create a good discussion atmosphere,active listening for responses,controlling time and dealing with emergency effectively.?.The third level of the competence standard of reading circle leader consists of 120 competence elements.For instance,the key task of asking good questions contains six competence requirements: Being able to ask open and specific questions,asking questions from the shallow to the deep,asking new questions based on process to facilitate thinking,responding to keywords to help members refine their speech,probing deeply into the causes behind surface problems and guiding members to connect learning materials with life experiences.Based on the research findings above,this report makes a comprehensive analysis as well as discussions about the problems while expounding the relevant research enlightenment.In conclusion,the author reflects on the research limitations.
