Positive academic sentiment can lead to better academic performance.Math anxiety is a kind of negative emotion when faced with mathematics learning.It is a negative emotion response when faced with mathematical situations.It affects students' mathematical performance.On this basis,this study introduces three variables: cognitive flexibility,mathematical metacognition,and mathematical flexibility to investigate the characteristics of math anxiety of junior students.Knowledge and potential flexibility play an intermediary role.The research uesd Qi bing and Zhang Jianghua's(2013)revised "Cognitive Flexibility Questionnaire",the amended Zhang Yaming and Yu guoliang(2005)'s revised "Children's Metacognition Questionnaire",the "Student Mathematics Anxiety Self-Assessment Questionnaire" revised on the basis of the "Children's Mathematics Anxiety Scale" revised by Chiu and Henry(1990)and revised by Geng Liuna and Chen Yinghe(2005),and mathematical flexibility test written by Liu Rude and others(2017)as the main measurement tools.327 junior high school students were used as the research object.Using SPSS20.0 and PROCESS plug-in to perform descriptive statistics,correlation analysis,regression analysis and mediation effect test on the data,the following research conclusions were obtained:1.There are significant gender differences in mathematical metacognition,mathematical flexibility,and math anxiety.Boy's scores on mathematical metacognition and mathematical flexibility are significantly higher than girls,while girls on math anxiety scores are significantly higher than boys.The gender difference in cognitive flexibility was not significant.2.General cognitive flexibility and mathematical flexibility have significant positive correlations in each dimension,general cognitive flexibility and mathematical anxiety have significant negative correlations,and general cognitive flexibility and mathematical metacognition have significant positive correlations.3.Mathematical metacognition and potential flexibility play a mediating role between cognitive flexibility and mathe anxiety.Math metacognition and potential flexibility play a mediating role in cognitive flexibility and mathematical anxiety respectively;mathematical metacognition and potential flexibility play a chain mediating role between cognitive flexibility and mathematical anxiety.
