Because of their special sociality,orphan groups have always received universal attention and help from all walks of life.Compared with other socially disadvantaged groups,they have experienced the injustice of their starting point of life and suffered the negative events of life with a longer time span.Especially in the psychological aspect,the injuries they have suffered are long-lasting and indelible.And it will cause a series of more serious psychological problems,the emotional intelligence of orphans is one of the more serious problems.The emotional intelligence problem of orphans directly affect the mental health of orphans.If it is not taken care of and solved,it will seriously affect the healthy growth of orphans and is not conducive to their normal socialization.Therefore,the emotional intelligence of orphans need to be given full attention.This research focuses on the orphan students of the orphan school in J province,and focuses on the emotional intelligence of orphan students.Field observation and measurement of emotional intelligence scale found that the emotional intelligence level of orphan students in orphan schools in J province was low.Specific manifestations are: poor ability to recognize and control their own emotions,poor ability to perceive and understand the emotions of others,lack of self-motivation,poor interpersonal relationships and low interpersonal sensitivity of orphan students.Therefore,to address the problem of orphan students' lower level of emotional intelligence,this study is mainly based on reading therapy,and the emotional picture book that is more in line with the age,cognition and thinking characteristics of orphanimprove the emotional intelligence of orphan students.In addition,while professional services for group work are being carried out,individual members of the group are supplemented with necessary case counseling to help them better integrate into the group,improve the overall efficiency of the group work,and promote the realization of group goals.Group work and case work are closely integrated in the two social work professional methods,and have achieved good interventional effects.Generally speaking,the intervention of professional social work has obvious effect on the improvement of the emotional intelligence level of orphan students,and it is of great significance to alleviate the pressure on teachers in orphan schools and promote the development of student work in orphan schools.The effectiveness of social work professional theories and methods in intervening orphan students' mental health issues has promoted the process of introducing professional social work services in orphan schools,and has also accelerated the development of school social work in the field of mental health education in primary and secondary schools.
