Textbook is an important carrier of education and teaching,and a direct reflection of the development of educational content in a period.The late Qing dynasty and the early Republic of China were in an important period of educational and teaching reform.During this period,with the establishment of the new education system,the content of education has undergone profound changes,and textbooks have also been greatly developed,laying a good foundation for the development of modern textbooks.The ephemeral self-cultivation textbook was born in this period,As an important teaching material of moral education at that time,self-cultivation textbooks have rich ideological and cultural values,However,due to the great inertia of traditional Chinese education,self-cultivation textbooks have not yet jumped out of the magnetic field of traditional Chinese education,showing some characteristics of Chinese education.Self-cultivation textbooks are rich in literariness and ideology,which give full play to the appeal of literature in ideological education,therefore,this paper tries to excavate the literariness and the value of Chinese education of self-cultivation textbooks.The research object of this paper is Higher primary school's new Chinese self-cultivation textbook,a set of textbooks compiled by Zhonghua publishing house in the early period of the Republic of China.Zhonghua publishing house is a publishing house with great influence since the Republic of China,and this set of textbooks is in a special period,so it has certain research value.This paper attempts to make a comprehensive and detailed analysis and research on the selected texts of old textbooks,and to show the characteristics of the selected texts,so as to obtain some enlightenment and thinking on the compilation of current textbooks.Textbooks have unique research value and are a new direction of educational research in recent years.However,self-cultivation textbooks have received less attention due to their short existence in the world,and most of them are studied from the perspectives of ideology and culture,discipline development,and textbook development.Therefore,it is new to study self-cultivation textbooks from the perspective of Chinese education.This paper starts with the text selection of self-cultivation textbooks,analyzes the text selection from the four perspectives of text selection source,text selection arrangement,literary content and ideological connotation,and investigates its compilation characteristics in the open era.We findthat it integrates the ancient and modern educational contents,follows the law of children's physical and mental development in the arrangement,advances with The Times in the educational thought,and has the characteristics of selecting articles with both literariness and ideology.Based on the above research and analysis,we can draw some useful inspirations from the compilation of Chinese textbooks in primary schools and the teaching of Chinese in primary schools:First of all,in textbook compilation,Chinese,as a subject with strong ideology,should pay attention to ideological guidance,so textbook compilation should have ideological guidance.Secondly,primary school students are in their childhood,so the selection and arrangement of textbooks should meet the needs of children and take care of children's interests and laws of physical and mental development.Thirdly,the rich literariness of self-cultivation textbooks enlightens us that all subject textbooks,especially Chinese,politics and history textbooks should complement each other to form a complementary knowledge structure.Finally,in Chinese teaching,we should pay attention to the traditional culture education and give play to the strong appeal of the Chinese subject,give play to the educational function of Chinese education and attach importance to moral education.
