Preschool children's emotion regulation is the adjustment of preschool children's arousal,intensity and duration of various emotions in order to achieve their goals.The good development of preschool children's emotion regulation helps them prevent mental illness and promote academic and social relationships.Abnormal development may lead to preschool children's mental illness.Based on a review of existing studies,it has been found that the development of emotion regulation of preschool children has received widespread attention in the field of education,but the quality of family education for emotion regulation development of preschool children needs to be improved.Pre-study has found that there are two problems in the development of emotion regulation in preschool children,including the lack of a reliable assessment tool and the lack of knowledge about emotion regulation development in preschool children.Therefore,this study intends to investigate the status quo of emotion regulation development in preschool children through a questionnaire survey,in order to solve the above two problems and provide reference for the education and promotion of preschool children's emotion regulation.In this study,through convenient sampling,a total of 2,090 valid survey data are obtained from parents of preschool children in 34 kindergartens in C city,S province.Parents who are familiar with preschool children complete the Emotion Regulation Checklist(ERC),the Revised Preschool Anxiety Scale(PAS-R)and basic demographic information simultaneously.This study mainly includes three parts:(1)Localization of Emotion Regulation Checklist(ERC)in Chinese preschool children.The Revised ERC(ERC-R)provides parents with a scientific assessment tool for children's emotion regulation that meets the psychometric criteria.It also ensures the credibility and reliability of subsequent analysis of the status quo of preschool children's emotion regulation development;(2)Preliminary construction of gender and class percentile norm of emotion regulation in preschool children.Through the construction of the norms,parents can effectively explain the scores after evaluation.It also helps this study to analyze the proportion of preschool children with abnormal development of emotion regulation;(3)Analysis of status quo and related factors of emotion regulation in preschool children.Based on the analysis of the status quo and related factors,suggestions for family education are provided to help promote the healthy development of preschool children's emotion regulation.The main findings of this study are as follows:(1)The Revised Emotion Regulation Checklist(ERC-R)has satisfactory reliability and validity.All indicators of ERC-R meet psychometric criteria and it can be used to evaluate and investgate emotion regulation of Chinese preschool children.ERC-R has a total of 12 items,including two dimensions:Lability/Negativity(LN)and Emotion Regulation(ER).The product-moment correlation coefficient between the two dimensions is-0.36.The fit indices of the scale are?~2=233.16(P<0.001),df=53,CFI=0.91,TLI=0.89,RMSEA=0.06,RMR=0.02.The product-moment correlation coefficient between LN and Social Anxiety,Generalized Anxiety,Separation Anxiety,Specific Anxiety,and Total Anxiety measured by PAS-R are 0.27,0.38,0.24,0.18,and 0.32,respectively.The product-moment correlation coefficient between ER and Social Anxiety,Generalized Anxiety,Separation Anxiety,Specific Anxiety,and Total Anxiety measured by PAS-R are-0.35,-0.28,-0.11,-0.14,-0.28,respectively.The internal consistency reliability of the two dimensions is 0.71 and 0.65,respectively;(2)The overall development of preschool children's emotion regulation development is at a moderately high level,but the proportion of preschool children with abnormal development of emotion regulation is 2.4%~12.2%;(3)Children's gender,class,kindergarten type,parenting style,family type,mother's education level,and father's education level are related factors for the development of children's emotion regulation.
