Chemistry concept is the foundation of the whole chemistry knowledge in high school,is an important part of chemistry curriculum content,and is the "skeleton" of the chemistry knowledge.However,at present,the teaching of chemistry concepts in high schools is generally based on teachers' instruction and students' passive learning,which is not conducive to the cultivation of students' learning ability and the mastery of concepts.Therefore,as a teacher,it is necessary to explore a effective way to teach chemistry concepts.A relatively effective teaching mode in chemistry concepts through the literature is found,which is 5E learning cycle.It consists of five parts: engage,explore,explain,elaborate and evaluate.It is an exploratory teaching pattern which focuses on students.It encourages students to discover,explore actively,and build concepts on their own sense,which corresponds to the way of initiative investigation the new curriculum reform advocates.In this study,the statue of teaching and learning chemistry concepts in senior one were investigated through questionnaire survey and interview,and it shows the feasibility of the implementation of the 5E learning cycle in teaching high school chemistry concepts.Then,it elaborates how to apply the "5E learning cycle" mode to teach chemistry concepts in high school from the five parts.Finally,the first unit of the topic 1 of the high school chemistry compulsory 1 in the Jiangsu Education Press was selected to carry out the 5E learning cycle teaching design,and it was applied to teach practically in two classes of the internship school for more than one month with the controlling variable method.At the end,the unit tests were taken in two classes and interviews were arranged with some students in the experimental class.The application study result shows that the "5E learning cycle" not only can promote the students to learn chemistry concepts,but also greatly improves students' study interest and thinking ability.Besides,it can improve students' learning methods,and strengthen students' learning confidence.Therefore,the "5E learning cycle" teaching model is worthy of being promoted and applied.
