STEAM education,as a new educational concept in recent years,has attracted extensive attention at home and abroad,and has a great impact on the theory and practice of preschool education in China.At the same time,the cultivation of children's mathematical ability is paid more attention by researchers,among which the ability of solving mathematical problems is considered as one of the main parameters of mathematical ability.Therefore,the research on STEAM education and mathematical problem-solving has important reference value for improving the quality of early childhood education.In this study,Shanghai X kindergarten was selected,and 60 children in two large classes were randomly selected as the experimental group and the control group.The experimental group carried out activities based on the concept of STEAM education,while the control group carried out regular thematic scientific activities.After three months of teaching intervention,the experiment group and the control group were tested before and after the experiment to test the children's mathematical problem-solving level,and SPSS24.0 software was used for data statistical analysis to verify whether the activities based on the STEAM education concept can improve the5-6-year-old children's mathematical problem-solving level.In order to understand the effectiveness of the activities based on the concept of STEAM education,and improve the design and implementation of the teaching activity scheme,the researcher interviewed four teachers and one director of X kindergarten,and laterally proved the development of 5-6-year-old children's mathematical problem-solving level.The conclusions of this study are as follows: 1)Based on the idea of STEAM education activities can improve the level of 5-6-year-old children's mathematical problem-solving.2)The activities based on the idea of STEAM education can improve children's interest in learning inquiry activities.3)Activities based on STEAM education concept help children to mobilize their existing knowledge,experience and skills to solve practical problems.This study puts forward the following suggestions: 1)The activity design based on the STEAM education concept should highlight the comprehensiveness.2)The implementation of activities based on STEAM education concept should emphasize operability.3)The design and implementation of activities based on STEAM education concept should emphasize problem driven.
