Quantifiers are an important part of speech in Chinese.Shape-based classifiers,as a small class of Chinese quantifiers,have the function of expressing the shape of things when measuring things.The correct use of shape-based classifiers makes Chinese expressions more accurate.In Thai,which also belongs to the Sino-Tibetan language family,there are quantifiers similar to Chinese shape-based classifiers,but Thai quantifiers are abundant,and shape-based classifiers do not correspond one-to-one between Chinese and Thai.Sometimes,this may cause some interference when Thai learners learning Chinese shape-based classifiers.In the process of learning and using shape-based classifiers,there would be some errors.The shape-based classifiers learned by Thai high school students who have reached the intermediate level of Chinese are a small part of Chinese shape-based classifiers.The study finds the textbooks Experiencing Chinese,and Standard Course HSK(1-4)commonly used by Thai middle and high school students,and compare the 1-4 vocabulary in the New HSK Vocabulary List with the first and second vocabulary in the Chinese Proficiency Vocabulary and the Outline of Chinese Characters,finally determined to study eight shape-based classifiers.Compare and analysis between Chinese and Thai shape-based classifiers to find out the difficulties that Thai high school students may have in acquiring Chinese shape-based classifiers,then predict possible errors.This paper analyzes the errors of natural corpus and test corpus of Chinese shape-based classifiers acquired by Thai high school students,and summarizes the main types of errors include the generalization of “ge”,mixed use of near meaning shape-based classifiers.The main causes of errors include negative transfer of mother language,generalization of target language rules,and the use of communicative strategies.Finally,this paper proposes relevant teaching strategies based on the analysis results.It is hoped that this paper can enrich the study of Thai high school students' acquisition of Chinese shape-based classifiers and provide some ideas for the practical teaching of Chinese shape-based classifiers.
