The purpose of foreign language teaching is to cultivate students' intercultural communication ability.Intercultural sensitivity is one of the most important components of intercultural communication ability.Therefore,this paper chooses "cross-cultural sensitivity" as the theme and focus of the study.The purpose of this paper is to find out the cross-cultural sensitivity of foreign students in China through investigation and research,analyze the causes of this situation,and put forward relevant suggestions for the reasons.The ultimate goal is to provide relevant references for the goal of Chinese language teaching,which is to develop intercultural communication competence.This paper takes 49 foreign students from an university in Liaoning as the research object.Chen Guoming's Intercultural communication theory model as the guidance,Chen and Starosta's ISS(Intercultural Sensitivity Scale)test Scale as the investigation tool.After questionnaire collection,data analysis is carried out based on the data analysis function of EXCEL software.The findings of this study are as follows:(1)The cross-cultural sensitivity of 49 foreign students in this university is at lower level of good.(2)Among the five dimensions of intercultural sensitivity,49 foreign students from this university have the most ideal situation in the dimension of "communicative pleasure";The five dimensions of intercultural sensitivity,49 foreign students from this university have the least ideal situation on the dimension of "communication participation".(3)Among the five dimensions of intercultural sensitivity,49 foreign students from this university have the largest proportion of excellent students in the dimensions of "communicative pleasure" and"communicative focus".Among the five dimensions of intercultural sensitivity,49 foreign students from this university have the smallest proportion of excellent level in the dimension of "communication participation".(4)Among the five dimensions of intercultural sensitivity,49 foreign students from this university fail in the dimension of"communicative pleasure",accounting for the largest proportion.The 49 foreign students from the university failed in the dimension of respect for cultural differences,accounting for the smallest proportion.After in-depth analysis,we believe that the lack of systematic,long-term and targeted cultural teaching is the reason for this phenomenon.Finally,we put forward some suggestions from the three aspects of doing well the cultural teaching in the teaching of Chinese as the foreign language,doing well the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language and developing the auxiliary teaching materials of culture.
