Due to the effective intervention of government policies, the number of left behind children in our country has declined significantly, but the influence of left behind experience on individuals is irreversible. The college students with left behind experience have different degrees of lack of parental companionship, which has a profound impact on individual mental health.Due to the lack of parental companionship and supervision, left behind children often face all kinds of growing problems on their own, lack of social support and correct guidance, which is likely to lead to problematic behaviors and ultimately increase aggression. Therefore, through the method of questionnaire surveys, this study discusses the influence of left behind experience on college students' aggression from the perspective of the left-behind experience and individual characteristics. There are three studies in this paper.Objective:(1)The present study investigated the difference of aggression between college students with and without left-behind experience, and whether the left behind experience significantly predicted aggression;(2)Whether there was heterogeneity among college students with left behind experience and whether there were differences in aggression among different types;(3)In the aspect of personal factors, the other purpose of the study was to explore whether the mediating mechanism between left behind experience and aggression and whether the mediating effect depended on the level of individual mindfulness.Method:Students from a certain vocational college in Chongqing completed the basic information questionnaire, the left-behind experience information questionnaire, the Chinese college students' version of Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire, the Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS)and the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale(MAAS).The software SPSS 21.0 was used to organize the data, perform t-test and regression analysis. The software Mplus 7.0 performed potential category analysis. The PROCESS performed the conditional process analysis.Result:(1)The results showed that the total score and the dimensions of hostility, impulse and irritability of aggression among college students with left-behind experience were significantly higher than that without left-behind experience(ttotal=3.704,p<0.001;t hostility=3.44,p<0.001;t impulse=3.867,p<0.001;t irritability=2.039,p<0.05);However,in the dimension of physical attack, there was no significant difference between the two groups(t=1.05,p>0.05).When control the gender, grade, singleton, urban or rural sources and family structure, the regression results show that there were significant predictive effects of left-behind experiences on total aggression score(?=0.136,p<0.001),hostility(?=0.112,p<0.01),impulsivity(?=0.132,p<0.001)and irritability(?=0.075,p=0.05),whereas the predictive effects of left-behind experience on physical aggression(?=0.067,p>0.05)was not significant.(2)The latent class analysis was found that there were three types of college students with left-behind experience, namely Cl "medium duration-less contacts-short stay at home"(28.7%),C2 "start early-long duration-frequent contacts"(32.9%),and C3 "start lately-short duration-different caregivers"(38.5%).Through analysis of regression mixture modeling, the result showed that the aggression of the college students of the "medium duration-less contacts-short stay at home" type was significantly higher than the other two types(?21-2=11.370,p<0.001;?21-3=10.131,p<0.001).The aggression of "start lately-short duration-different caregivers" was higher than "start lately-short duration-different caregivers",but the difference was not significant(?22-3=0.028,p>0.05).(3)Through the conditional process analysis, the results showed that the mediating effect of perceived social support between left-behind experience and aggression was significant in the case of controlling gender and age;trait mindfulness significantly moderated the relationship between perceived social support and aggression. However, there was no significant moderating effect between left-behind experience and perceived social support.Conclusion:(1)The aggression of college students with left-behind experience is significantly higher than that without left-behind experience, which is mainly manifested in hostility, impulse and irritability.(2)The frequency of parent-child contacts and the time of getting along with each other have the most profound influence on individual aggression.(3)Left behind experiences influenced aggression by perceived social support. In the group of college students with high level of mindfulness, the indirect effect of left behind experiences on aggression was enhanced. This paper investigated the influence of the left-behind experience types and personal characteristics on the aggression of college students with left-behind experience. The results showed that the college students with left-behind experience were more aggressive, mainly manifested in hostility, impulse and irritability.Among the characteristics of left-behind experience, compared with the initial left-behind age and the duration of left-behind experience, the frequency of parent-child contact and the time to get along with each other are more important to the aggression of college students with left-behind experience. In the personal characteristics, the perceived social support is an important factor between the left-behind experience and the aggression, and the trait mindfulness affect the relationships among them.To sum up,children during left-behind period need more family communication and get along with each other, while college students with left-behind experience need more social support and care.
