Study On The Influence Mechanism Of Knowledge Transfer In Strategic Alliances Based On Social Network

During the21stcentury, technological progress and international competition hasbecome the focus of business world with the whole world facing the economicglobalization. Therefore, knowledge management and expansion of cooperation isvery important for the enterprises to meet technical challenges and global competition.In this thesis, the mechanism study on the knowledge transfer in a strategic alliance isconsidered from a perspective of social network, in the hope of providing a theoreticalbasis and practical instruction for the knowledge cooperation in the trend of neweconomy.This thesis is divided into four parts which are separated as6chapters. Themajor task of this thesis is:1) to analyze the influence of relationship in a socialnetwork and make up of a social network on the knowledge transfer;2) to investigatethe mechanism of knowledge transfer in an alliance from the viewpoint of socialnetwork.Firstly, the literatures about social network, strategic alliance and knowledgetransfer are reviewed and current progress related to this study is summarized. Then,the idea and model for knowledge transfer is proposed based on previousstudy.Secondly, the building-up of a new framework-model for knowledge transfer inan alliance is attempted, according to previous theory related to the social networkand knowledge transfer. The role which could be played by the subject of knowledgetransfer is analyzed in an alliance; on the other hand the strategic alliance andknowledge transfer is effective connected through the setting up of the social networkand medium effect on the consideration of network relationship and networkmake-up.Thirdly, based on the framework of knowledge transfer model, thesignificance and function of the social network in an alliance is described. Based onthe previous model and in order to meet the current requirement of investigation, themechanism of how network factor and medium influence factor affect knowledgetransfer is firstly studied.Lastly, in the consideration of the scientific effectiveness,TD-SCDMA is then chosen for the case study. Factors which affected knowledgetransfer are studied in a model framework for knowledge transfer on a perspective ofsocial network. The result from this study is then summarized and could enlightenthe future study of related research. In a trend of the new social economy, the application of social network relatedtheory into the study of knowledge transfer in a strategic alliance is of greatsignificance both in the theory and in the field. This social network based mechanismstudy on the knowledge transfer is an exploratory example in this research area, sincerelated study is rare in academy and most of works limited to the study of correlativityamong social network, strategic alliance and knowledge transfer.
