With the rapid development of globalization and technology,the external environment that enterprises are facing is becoming more and more complex,which changes complexly and profoundly.How to rise the level of strategic flexibility by changing the strategic mode,using the innovation activities to respond the uncertainty external environment,has become an important issue in today's practice and academic theory filed of business management.The existing theoretical research shows that enterprises are embedded in the social network,which is an important way to obtain information and resources.That social network affect enterprise innovation activities,but there is not consistent conclusion of the relationship between the embeddedness and innovation performance,a part of scholars believe there is a positive correlation between them,but the other part of the scholars insist on the exiting "embedded paradox".In addition,in-depth study the mechanism between relational embeddedness and innovation performance is still rare,not to mean the relevant empirical research.In this context,this paper focuses on the theme of "how does the embeddedness plays a role in innovation performance",and tries to find out the relationship between them and the specific path of the influence.Specifically,this study reference to a large number of previous studies,then put forward the following three research questions:Firstly,does the relationship embeddedness affect innovation performance? Secondly,whether the embeddedness will have different effect on innovation performance? Thirdly,whether the mechanism of the impact of the relationship embeddedness on innovation performance will be affected by the strategic flexibility including the resource flexibility and capability flexibility?In order to solve those three questions,the study combines the literature and proposes the hypothesis,then constructs the conceptual model of the effect of relational embeddedness on innovation performance.What's more,using the SPSS17.0 to analysis257 samples of data collected by the questionnaire,the final conclusion is drawn:(1)Different degree of embeddedness truly has a different effect on innovation performance.The enterprise builds trust,information sharing and joint problem solving(2)mechanism through the external network,thereby obtaining excellent information resources,cultivate the strategic ability to cope with environmental uncertainty,which improves the enterprise innovation performance and has positive effect on organizational innovation performance.However,once the relationship between the network members exceed the degree of tolerance,it will result in information blocking,path dependence of solve the problem and other troubles,and thus damage the enterprise's innovation performance.Therefore,there is an inverted U model between relational embeddedness and innovation performance.(3)Strategic flexibility is an important factor affecting innovation performance.Enterprises with high strategic flexibility will have more chances and the higher efficiency of enterprise resource utilization when dealing with changes in the external environment result in the more significant the improvement of innovation performance.(4)The effect of relational embeddedness on innovation performance is realized through strategic flexibility.The high quality resources and information are brought by the moderate relationship embeddedness,which can promote the innovation activities of enterprises.The development and deepening of the innovation activities are realized through the improvement of the strategic flexibility of enterprises,that is to say,moderate and reasonable relationship embeddedness can improve the performance of organizational innovation through enhancing the level of strategic flexibility.Throughout the discuss above,this paper has three innovate aspects :(1)Using large sample data and empirical methods to examine the existence of relational embeddedness paradox.This paper discusses whether there is a "positive and then negative" relationship between relational embeddedness and innovation performance with a rigorous empirical study.The results of this study will enrich the weak points of the relationship between the two.(2)With the strategic flexibility as the breakthrough point,the paper discusses the impact ways of relationship embeddedness on innovation performance.This study introduce the strategic flexibility as an intermediary variable,which expands the theoretical perspective of strategic flexibility,and enriches the research on the path and mechanism of the relationship embeddedness.(3)The paper put up a complete model of relational embeddedness on organizational innovation performance with systematic though.Puting the three elements of relational embeddedness,strategic flexibility and organizational innovation performance into the same theoretical model,find out the inverted U model between relational embeddedness and innovation performance,the conclusion of empirical will contribute to further integration.
