Abstract/Summary:
Innovation is the prime mover of development and corporate innovation is the critical element in building a modern innovative nation.Given the rapid development of technology and changes in the external environment,it is difficult for enterprises to innovate effectively in a highly competitive market with only their own resources. Therefore, enterprises must cross the original organizational boundaries and embed external relationship networks to break the resource bottleneck within the organization and improve innovation performance.Faced with the large amount of external resources brought by network embeddedness, how to integrate and transform them into useful information for innovation activities,so as to realize the improvement of their own innovation performance,is the key issue that Chinese enterprises now need to address.Based on network embeddedness theory and dynamic capability theory, this study investigates the effect of network embeddedness on the innovation performance and the mediating role of dynamic capability.Using patent data, relevant financial data and board members data of Ashare listed companies from 2012 to 2021,a network of board members is constructed and linear regression analysis is used to test the research hypotheses. The results show that:relational embeddedness significantly contributes to innovation performance;structural embeddedness significantly inhibits innovation performance;and dynamic capability mediates the effect of network embeddedness on innovation performance. On the basis of these findings, the thesis concludes with recommendations on the network construction and capability enhancement of Chinese enterprises,as well as the construction of government innovation cooperation system.
