The Decline Of Rubber Economy And The Transformation Of Livelihood

Taking Baduo village in JiNuo Mountain as the main fieldwork point,auxiliary slope of multi-point survey around Bapo,Bapiao and Xintusi village.This paper describes the process of rubber planting in JiNuo Mountain.At first,villagers knew nothing about the rubber,then the rising price of rubber led to the crazy planting of rubber.When the prices of rubber fall,villagers choose to give up part of the rubber tree.For a long time,the cultivation of rubber has an important impact on the local ecological environment,social culture,and the body of rubber farmers.Rubber planting resulted in the severe water shortages,the biodiversity and soil fertility are also affected by different degrees.Rubber farmers engaged in tapping,caused stomach trouble,spinal disease,cerebral thrombosis and other kinds of disease.The body of the rubber farmers suffered serious damage.Rubber planting also led to the changes of Jinuo traditional culture,the concept of time based on the traditional agricultural and caused the religious sacrificial festivals diminishing.Meanwhile,the economic benefits brought about by rubber planting have greatly changed the daily life of villagers.JiNuo Mountain appeared a new way of consumption,entertainment and communication.The rubber tree brings economic benefits is one of the important reasons for the Jinuo fanatical pursuit of rubber plantation,but with the decline in 2013 rubber price fluctuations,has seriously affected the local villagers livelihood,livelihood transformation become inevitable choice of sustainable development of the current JiNuo Mountain.From the macro perspective,the local government put forward the development of diversified livelihoods and national ecological tourism.The villagers will also treat local government as a "resource",through interaction with the local government,to realize the sustainable development of JiNuo Mountain.
