Since China's reform and opening up,China's banking market structure has been continuously changing.A competitive system that the People's Bank of China as the leader,various commercial banks and non-banking financial institutions coexist has emerged.Theoretically,the improvement of the market competition will produce a "catfish effect" and optimize market competition behavior.However,there are still some problems in our banking industry,such as the problem of serious qualitative competition and unreasonable credit structure.Since 2007,optimizing credit structure and standardizing the banks' credit behavior have always been the important topics of the Central Economic Work Conference.Therefore,this article will link optimizing credit structure and standardizing the banks' credit behavior to study the impact of China's banking market structure on the credit behavior of commercial banks.First of all,this paper sorts out relevant literature of the banking market structure and credit behavior of commercial banks,and then elucidates the impact path of the banking market structure on bank credit behavior.On this basis,it deeply discussed the impact performance of banking market structure on bank credit behavior.Then,this paper takes China's bank data for the period of 2007-2016 as a sample,from the perspective of bank competition affects the scale of credit and bank competition affects credit structure to empirical test the relationship.The empirical results show that:(1)China's banking loan CR5 value decreased from 56.46% in 2007 to 45.60% in 2016;loan HHI value decreased from 739.08 in 2007 to 496.56 in 2016;H statistic calculated based on PR model It rose from 0.7341 in 2007 to 0.9806 in 2016.It shows that China's banking industry is in a monopolistic and competitive structure with increasing competition.(2)From the whole sample,In terms of credit scale,banking competition has promoted the total credit amount,and Commercial bank credit expansion is obvious.In terms of credit structure,banking competition has leaded commercial bank transfer to personal loans and medium and long-term loans.Even if it is deeply affected by competitive pressures,commercial banks in our country still show obvious behaviors of guarantee preference.(3)Through sample observations,Compared with large state-owned banks,China's small and medium-sized commercial banks are all significantly positively correlated with the banking competition variables in the total credit volume,the proportion of personal loans,the proportion of medium-and long-term loans,and the proportion of secured loans.But the credit growth rate and banking competition has a significant negative relationship.It can be seen that the credit behavior of China's small and medium-sized commercial banks is more easily influenced by bank competition.Finally,combining the above conclusions and the reality of China's banking industry,this paper puts forward the policy suggestions of optimizing the banking market structure and standardizing the credit behavior of commercial banks.
