The Study Of Risks In Overseas Engineering Project

Project is involved a lot of contents including feasibility study,investment decision-making,consulting,design,supervision,bidding,construction and procurement,etc.,with complex procedure and lots of stakeholders.A great many of uncertainties and risks will occur during the whole life cycle of the project.Due to the short history for involved in overseas engineering,the Chinese contractors have not fully understood the various complicated conditions prior to undertaking the project,in addition the shortage of experienced engineering technician and language human resource.Meanwhile there is a difference between the Chinese contractor and international contractor on the concept and practice for project management,the mobilization of labor resource,construction material and equipment is also difference.The internal and external effect mentioned above make the contractors face great risk when undertaking overseas engineering projects.This study will focus on identifying and assessing the potential risk faced by the contractor in overseas engineering project.The AHP analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model shall be adopted in order to finalize the quantitative analysis of risk.Finally apply the study theories and methods to practice,taking the Indonesia Alumina Refinery Project as an example,identify and evaluate the risk elements in the project and calculate the risk coefficient,present a proposal against the risks.
