At present, trade protectionism has intensified, and the trend of anti-globalization has risen.China is a beneficiary of globalization and should adhere to globalization. The "One Belt and One Road" initiative has promoted globalization and has its special era background significance under the trend of a reversal of globalization.Although infrastructure in many countries along the “One Belt and One Road” is lagging behind, with the continuous advancement of the “Belt and Road Initiative”,the continuous improvement of infrastructure and the strengthening of interconnection,China's economic and trade exchanges with countries along the “One Belt and One Road” will become more frequent.Electromechanical products are an important part of China's trade in goods.Despite the large number of countries along the “Belt and Road” initiative, exports of mechanical and electrical products from China to these countries are less than a quarter of total exports of electromechanical products.Does China's machinery and electronic products have export potential for exporting countries, and how large is the export potential? Which countries and regions have relatively large export potential? This is the issue that this article will study.Taking mechanical and electrical products as the research object, this paper analyzes the mechanism of China's mechanical and electrical products export to countries along the “One Belt and One Road” approach, and measures export trade potential coefficients and the potential for research on export trade in order to promote and improve China's mechanical and electrical products. It is of practical significance to provide empirical reference for the exports of countries along the way. This paper firstly applies the theory of demand similarity and exchange rate elasticity theory to analyze the export trade of mechanical and electrical products, and analyzes the influence mechanism of economic development level, geographic factors, economies of scale, regional economic integration and institutional quality on the export of mechanical and electrical products. Then, this article makes a statistical analysis and comparative analysis of China's mechanical and electrical products and the countries along the “Belt and Road”.The export of mechanical and electrical products is mainly concentrated in 10 ASEAN countries, and India is the country with the largest export flow.Next, using panel data models from 65 countries in China along the “Belt and Road” route from 2007 to 2016,we conducted an empirical analysis of the mechanisms affecting the export of electromechanical products. The empirical results show that exchange rates, geographical distances, and the rule of law in countries along the route,The GDP of countries along the route has a significant impact on the export flow of mechanical and electrical products, and the GDP growth of importing countries contributes more to the export of mechanical and electrical products than the growth of China's GDP.The scale of the electromechanical industry and the "Belt and Road Initiative" itself have no significant impact. Finally,it proposed to strengthen infrastructure construction, improve interconnection with countries along the “One Belt and One Road”,seize key export areas and major exporting countries, target countries with rapid GDP growth and good rule of law,and strengthen the development of the electromechanical industry to promote Electromechanical product export recommendations.
