Information and Communications Technology(ICT)is the material and technical cornerstone of digital economy, and its product trade is directly related to a country’s competitive advantage in digital trade and the continuous improvement of information and communications technology. At present,ICT product trade has become the focus of competition among countries around the world.China faces stiff competition from various countries, stabilizing and expanding the sustained export of ICT products will become an important guarantee to promote high-quality development of foreign trade. As important trading partners of China, countries along the "Belt and Road" have seen their import trade volume of ICT products from China rise year after year in recent years.Taking the countries along the "Belt and Road" as the research object, this paper analyzes the trade potential of China’s ICT products exported to them, which is conducive to providing useful ideas for breaking bilateral ICT product trade barriers, improving China’s ICT product export trade environment and promoting the construction of "Digital Silk Road".Firstly,on the basis of reviewing relevant research at home and abroad and sorting out relevant theories of transnational trade, the influencing factors of the export potential of China’s ICT products are analyzed from the four aspects of politics, economy, technology and cost, which lays a foundation for the selection of variables and the establishment of the model.Secondly, this paper analyzes the status quo of China’s export trade of ICT products to countries along the "Belt and Road" from four perspectives of export trade scale, structure, geographical direction and competitiveness, and explores the existence of bilateral trade cooperation space. Finally, the stochastic frontier gravity model was established to analyze the export potential of China’s ICT products to countries along the "Belt and Road" and its influencing factors. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows: Firstly, from 2000 to 2020,the scale and competitiveness of China’s export trade of ICT products to countries along the "Belt and Road" showed an increasing trend.Communication products are the main category of China’s ICT products exported to the countries along the "Belt and Road",and Southeast Asia is the main area of China’s ICT products exported to the countries along the "Belt and Road".Second, from 2009 to 2019,the export efficiency of China’s ICT products to countries along the "Belt and Road" was generally depressed. Most of the countries along the "Belt and Road" are countries with huge potential. There is a large difference in China’s export efficiency and export potential to countries along the "Belt and Road",with the highest export efficiency to Southeast Asia and the largest prolongable trade volume to India and Russia.Third,The existence of a common language between China and countries along the "Belt and Road" and the improvement of the level of economic development of both sides, the information technology, political stability, freedom of trade, the quality of trade or transport-related infrastructure of countries along the "Belt and Road" and China’s technological innovation ability will promote the release of the export potential of China’s ICT products.Higher tariffs in countries along the "Belt and Road" will inhibit the release of the export potential of China’s ICT products. |
