| Mechanical and electrical products are the main pillar industries that promote the growth of China’s exports, accounting for a large proportion of the Chinese commodity exports. However, since the financial crisis in 2008,the growth of China’s mechanical and electrical products exports has been relatively slow, and the impact of the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020 on the global industrial chain has made the future export situation of China’s mechanical and electrical products more severe. In this context, emerging market countries with rapid economic development are increasingly becoming important export destinations in the world,do emerging market countries have high market potential? Is there room for further expansion of China’s exports of mechanical and electrical products to these countries? Which countries have more room to expand? How should it be expanded? Considering the important position of emerging market countries in China’s goal of achieving the diversification of foreign trade markets, the study of these issues is of great significance. In the context of above backgrounds, this thesis paper takes 2010 to 2019 as the investigation period, first of all,China’s export of mechanical and electrical products to emerging market countries is summarized, and then through the index analysis method to qualitatively analyze the trade competition and complementarity relationship between China and emerging market countries,so as to preliminarily determine whether there is trade potential. Finally, from the perspective of quantitative analysis, the export potential and improvement space of China’s mechanical and electrical products to emerging market countries are measured. The study has found that China’s trade volume in mechanical and electrical products with emerging market countries showed an upward trend, but the growth rate was slower.Through index analysis,it is found that the comprehensive competitiveness of China’s mechanical and electrical products in the global market is strong, and there is a strong trade relationship between China and emerging market countries in mechanical and electrical products, and the regression results of the stochastic frontier gravity model show that bilateral GDP factors such as the population of importing countries have promoted the export of China’s mechanical and electrical products;while geographical distance and the Chinese population factors have hindered China’s exports of mechanical and electrical products to emerging market countries.China’s export trade efficiency of mechanical and electrical products to most emerging market countries is generally low, there is a very large room for improvement, and there is a large trade potential to be realized.Based on the above research results, this thesis proposes a response to the export potential of mechanical and electrical products of emerging market countries from three aspects: China should put SITC75-76 commodities with strong international competitiveness and those with strong competitiveness SITC74 and SITC77 commodities are key export commodities;and Bulgaria,Argentina,Pakistan, and other countries with huge trade potential are key export objects, focusing on tapping market demand and expanding market space;China should promote the construction of economic and trade exchange mechanisms and build a stable trade exchange platform.China should also accelerate the construction of interconnection and create more convenient trade conditions. |
