The concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR)and employee engagement are growing in importance,both in academia and in practice.However,very little is known about whether or how corporate social responsibility affects employees.Understanding employees reactions to corporate social responsibility may help answer lingering questions about the potential effects of corporate social responsibility on firms as well as illuminate some of the processes responsible for them.Employees are primary stakeholders who directly contribute to the success of the company,and important matter for corporate sustainable growth especially era of global recession.The paper first proposed the research theory framework consisting of the three variables of corporate social responsibility,organizational commitment and employee performance.Then it elaborated on' the corporate social responsibility practices in both developed and developing countries.It also introduced Nigeria,5 corporate social responsibility field and finally Nigeria5 s Coca-Cola.The bottled company's corporate social responsibility practices conducted field research.The study is conducted to investigate the influence of corporate social responsibility perceptions of ermployees on their organizational commitment level and employee performance.It is an important study in the context that it provides management insight about employee's behavior regarding CSR.The study found highly significant positive relationship between CSR and employee organizational commitment,CSR and organizational performance,and Organizational commitment and organizational performance.Thus,this study made use of research design in which questionnaire and interview were adopted.As a result,the target audience that forms the population of this study involves selected staff of Nigerian Bottling Company(Ikeja plant).A total number of 400 questionnaires were distributed 318 were returned.The Amos structure modeling method was used to analyze the individual statement and bio-data of the respondents,the hypothesis testing was done by using structural equation model(SEIM)technique.The study found three significantly positive relationships between CSR actions and organizational commitment,CSR and employee performance and organizational commitment between employee performances.These findings depict that organizations can enhance their employee organizational commitment through involving themselves in social activities for instance,identifying needs of the community and fulfilling them,working for better environment,involving in employee welfare,producing quality products for customers and complying with government rules and regulations.All these activities significantly and positively influence employee commitment lAwith organizations and improve organizational performance.This study provides important information to decision makers involved in designing employee related policies for uplifting their moral and motivate them to remain loyal,committed with their organization and work hard for the uplifting of organization.It was noted that some organization considered corporate social responsibility as unproductive and undermine of business resources and believe that organization should only be conceemed with profit maximization and rather ignore the outcome of social responsiveness to employee outcome effect on organization performance.This study focused on employee's perceptions towards CSR.Companies worried about high employee turmover,employee absenteeism and employee low motivation towards work and organization.These findings help to deeper understanding of how companies communicate their CSR initiatives and issues to internal stakeholders.Nigerian CSR perspective is characterized by the Carroll's Pyramid from an African context where Philanthropy gets a high priority in Africa;the socio-economic needs of the African societies in which companies operate are so enormous that philanthropy has become an expected norm.Companies also understand that they cannot succeed in a sickening society.CSR around the world differs;so it is of value to try to understand how CSR is perceived in developing nations and what China CSR is to Africa nations.
