Farmers' participation in the management of natural reserves is an important way to improve the management effect of the natural reserves and promote the coordinated development of local society, economy and ecology.Through interviews and questionnaire surveys which based on 270 households farmers from 21 administrative villages around the Wuyishan Nature Reserve,Meihuashan Nature Reserve and Liangyeshan Nature Reserve in Fujian province, collected the first-hand data, constructed an analytical framework for the related factors affecting the participation behaviors of the surrounding farmers in the management of natural reserves and an analytical framework for the impact of different participation behaviors of farmers on the management effect of the natural reserves.Using the Logistic model,on the one hand, analysis the significance of various factors affecting the participation behaviors of farmers' management in natural reserves, included 14 factors of 4 aspects, which are farmers' perception of the influences of natural reserves, farmers' cognition on the work of natural reserves, farmers' willingness to participate in the management activities in the natural reserves and farmers' individual characteristics, obtains the main influencing factors of the farmers' participation in the management of the natural reserves. On the other hand, according to the citizen participation ladder theory, divides the participation behavior of farmers into 3 types and 9 ways, taking them as the key variables, incorporates other control variables at the same time, analysis the significance of the effect of different types of participation on Farmers' participation in the management of the natural reserves, obtains the Farmers' participation behavior which make the management effect best in natural reserves. The results show that:(1)The overall impact of the construction of natural reserves on the surrounding farmers is not high, farmers just have general understanding of the work of natural reserves, the willingness and current participation level of farmers to participate in the development of the natural reserves need to be improved;(2)Whether the eco-tourism in the natural reserves can impact the surrounding farmers, whether the construction of the natural reserves can improve the household income of the farmers and can bring more business opportunities to the local, how satisfied the farmer households are with the work of the natural areas, the area of cultivated land/Woodland in the natural reserves of the farmers'household and whether the natural reserves can carry out the skill service and training for the farmers, etc. All of these 9 factors have an important impact on farmers' participation in the activities related to the management of the natural reserves, and the influence is positive;(3)The best way for farmers to participate in the management of natural reserves is that:Farmers take the initiative to enter the natural reserves similar to the ecotourism business activities and the farmer households are employed as labors in the natural reserves, which have a huge positive impact on the settlement of contradictions at home and in the natural reserves after farmers' participation in the activities related to the management of the natural reserves, the increase in household income, and the increase in awareness of the natural reserves.Based on the above research results, four policy recommendations are proposed to improve farmers' participation in the management of nature reserves:(1)Expand the positive impact of natural reserves and increase farmers' satisfaction;(2)Establish a reasonable compensation mechanism to protect the basic rights of farmers;(3)Strengthen the propaganda of natural reserves to increase the degree of farmers'awareness;(4)Encourage farmers to participate in symbolic participation activities and broaden participation channels.
