The Impact Of Producer Services Import On China's Service-Oriented Manufacturing

Influenced by the service economy and the information revolution,dramatic changes have taken place in the global production mode and the international labor division of manufacturing industry.On one hand,China's manufacturing industry has been at the low end of the global value chain for a long time with a disadvantage in the international competition.It is imperative to promote its upgrading and transformation.Promoting Service-Oriented Manufacturing is an important direction and approach for industrial upgrading and transformation.On the other hand,the trade in producer services can improve manufacturing productivity,their international competitiveness and promote the transformation of Service-Oriented Manufacturing through direct transfer effects,technology spillover effects,etc.,at the same time,it can also have a certain impact on the manufacturing industry of host country through substitution effects.Therefore,it is of theoretical and practical significance to study the impact of producer services import on China's Service-Oriented Manufacturing.On the basis of related literature and theory,this thesis first calculated and analyzed the current situation of "quantity" and "quality" of China's producer services,namely,scale,structure and technical content.Secondly,an input-output model was constructed to measure and analyze the development of input and output servitization in China's manufacturing industry.Then,two indicators of "dependency degree" and“imported technical complexity”were selected to construct two basic regression equations to analyse the impact,which were analyzed and demonstrated from the perspectives of“quantity”and“quality”of producer services import trade.At last,differentiated the impact of low-tech intensity industries and medium-high technology-intensive industries on China's manufacturing output servitization.Research shows that:First,the overall level of Service-Oriented Manufacturing development of China is low,the level of input servitization in sub-industry has not risen,and the level of output servitization is higher than the world average.Second,the import of producer services can,to a certain extent,promote China's Service-Oriented Manufacturing.Low-technology-intensive manufacturing industries are less dependent on producer services factors than mid-to-high-tech manufacturing industries,especially on imported production service.Thirdly,the import trade of producer services can influence the manufacturing output servitization through two approaches,“quality”and“quantity".From the perspective of“quantity”,the dependence of imported productive service factors has a negative effect on the output servitization;from the "quality" point of view,the technical complexity of producer services trade has a greater negative effect on the output servitization than the positive effect.To the industries with lower technology intensity,there is a significant negative effect on the output servitization,while to the industries with higher technology intensity,There is a positive effect.Based on the above conclusions,this paper proposes four recommendations:increasing the management level of manufacturing managers;enhancing the international competitiveness of domestic producer services;optimizing the input structure of imported producer services,allocating imported producer services elements rationally,giving full play to the positive effects of advanced imported producer services;Based on the development needs of the "Belt and Road" countries,establishing the core producer services of China's traditional advantageous industries,extending the value chain to promote its transformation and upgrading.
