On The Influence Of Public Participation In Scientific Research And Its Development In China

At present,the fourth paradigm of scientific research—data intensive research has developed rapidly.The scientific or scientist ways of thinking,proofing,and ways of establishing truth have become richer and more influential because of the existence of big data.Therefore,new research forms need to be developed.Under this background,the paper analyzes the Public Participation in Scientific Research as a new form of scientific research,systematically explains its concept and its connotations,Under the premise of fully understanding its supporting factors,content and implementation process,this article discusses impact of Public Participation in Scientific Research on modern scientific research and the changes it triggers.Finally,based on the analysis of the conditions and opportunities for the development of Public Participation in Scientific Research in our country,the corresponding countermeasures are proposed.To begin with,this paper defines the Public Participation in Scientific Research.The writer then analyses its connotation from the following three perspectives: the public,participation and scientific research,summarizes its development process: from the public's understanding of science to the public's engagement in science to the Public Participation in Scientific Research and compares the traditional scientific research with the Public Participation in Scientific Research.By observing and analyzing the public's knowledge,tools and projects,which support the public to take part in the scientific research,and by elaborating on the main contents of the Public Participation in Scientific Research,that is the public's scientific observation,the public's collection of data and the public's study and analysis,the writer sums up the general realization process: a quality scientific research project by the public is made up of four stages: preparation and investment,cooperation and implementation,result output and comment and conclusion.During the whole process,the effective feedback is necessary.Thus,the paper concludes that Public Participation in Scientific Research has an effect on the current scientific research.In theory,it expands the application and promulgation of scientific theories and enriches the innovation methods of scientific theories.In methodology,it broadens the practical usages of scientific methods,decreases its operational cost and makes the research paradigm public knowledge.Moreover,the influence triggers the shift of scientific research's objects,levels and types.Last but not least,the paper holds the opinion that Public Participation in Scientific Research in China still faces three challenges: the limited scientific research projects,the public's lack of ability in scientific research and the scientific community's low level of acceptance,even though we have some advantages such as the macro guidance,the technology support and practice in a microcosmic manner.The paper hereby offers three pieces of advice on the development of Public Participation in Scientific Research: broadening the channels for these scientific projects,cultivating the public's research ability and the proper guidance of the traditional scientific research personnel.
