Since China and New Zealand signed the free trade agreement, the trade volume between the two countries has grown at an average annual rate of more than 15%.The main driving force for bilateral trade growth is the close trade relationship between the two countries. As one of China's trading partners,New Zealand has been China's largest source of imports for several consecutive years.New Zealand is a large agricultural country and dairy products play an important role in New Zealand's trade.Relying on congenital advantages and advanced dairy production and processing technologies,as well as a strong supervision system for quality and safety,New Zealand has a strong international competitiveness in dairy products trade.China is relatively backward in terms of technical aspects such as dairy production and processing.Low milk production and high raw milk production costs are also reasons why China is not competitive. With the ever-rising economic level, changes in consumer attitudes, and changes in the demographic structure,it is no longer sufficient to rely on domestically produced dairy products to satisfy people's demands for high quality and high output. The total imports of Chinese dairy products increased by 169.19 tons between 2002 and 2016.In 2004,China and New Zealand began negotiations and signed the”China-New Zealand Free Trade Area Agreement" on April 7,2008.The agreement establishes standards for tax breaks and trigger levels for sensitive products. Then, what will be the impact of the signing of the free trade agreement on China's import of dairy products from New Zealand from New Zealand? How much impact? How do domestic companies deal with the impact of the free trade agreement? This article studies the above issues. This article first analyzes the status of China's overall import trade of dairy products, followed by an analysis of the current status of China's imports of dairy products from New Zealand.According to statistics, since 20023 the number of dairy products imported from New Zealand has kept growing, and in 2009 China The number of dairy products imported from New Zealand was 247,300 tons, which reached 764,900 tons in 2016.The consumption structure of dairy products has changed from year to year. From the very beginning, the import volume of milk powder has turned into fresh milk and milk powder.Secondly, using the DID method to analyze the impact of the FTA signed on the import of Chinese dairy products from New Zealand.Through regression analysis, relevant conclusions are drawn. This paper believes that the signing of the China-Singapore FTA has,to a certain extent, prompted China to increase the number of dairy products imported from New Zealand, and will continue to release growth potential in the future, resulting in greater trade effects.,has an impact on the domestic dairy industry.Through the analysis and summary of the status quo, this article puts forward policy recommendations on how to improve the international competitiveness of dairy products and how to deal with the impact of the free trade agreement on Chinese dairy products.
