Entrepreneurial Social Capital And Performance Of Technological Innovation

With the deepening of economic globalization,enterprises must improve their technological innovation ability if they want to gain a dominant position in the fierce market competition.However,it is far from enough to only use internal resources to construct technological innovation capability.There more and more entrepreneurs get the funds,technology,talents and information needed for innovation and development by establishing good social relations with external organizations.As an important hub connecting enterprises and the external environment,the entrepreneur,especially for the small and medium-sized enterprises,plays a decisive role in the formulation and implementation of enterprise innovation strategy for that their social capital can help SMEs access to various resources and significantly affect the technological innovation of enterprises.There this paper is focused on individual entrepreneurs and explore the relationship between entrepreneur social capital and technological innovation performance of the enterprises through empirical research.In order to distinguish the differences among the enterprises of industry types,different size,and different property rights system,we analyze the moderating effects of these factors on the relationship between the social capital of entrepreneurs and technology innovation of the enterprises.The empirical results show that:(1)the whole sample regression,the three dimensions of entrepreneur's social capital(political connection,technology association connection and business association connection)have a significant impact on the technological innovation performance of enterprises,among which,the strongest variable is technology association connection,the second is political connection and the last is business association connection(2)the influence of the political association of the state-owned enterprises on the performance of technological innovation is far more than that of the private enterprises.(3)The social capital of the entrepreneurs of large enterprises has the greatest impact on the performance of technological innovation,the next is small enterprises and the last is the medium scale enterprises.(4)The impact of the technological associations connection of entrepreneurs in strategic emerging industries on the technological innovation performance is greater than that of the entrepreneurs in the traditional industries.
