With the rapid development of new generation of information technologies such as the Internet of things,big data and artificial intelligence,the Internet has rapidly penetrated into various industries,and new formats and business models have emerged.The external environment of enterprises in the Internet age is highly uncertain.In such an environment,there is no strong and permanent business model.At the same time,with the deepening of the specialization,the complexity of enterprise innovation knowledge,it is impossible for a single company to have all the necessary resources for innovation.More and more companies choose to open their minds and actively embedded the external network to acquire,digest,and transform external resources which can apply to enterprise's innovation activities.However,the important influence of enterprise network characteristics on business model innovation is ignored.In view of this,this study combines theory with empirical research to explore the influence mechanism of relationship embeddedness on business model innovation.At the same time,this study think that the external network relationship alone is not enough to promote business model innovation.It also needs to rely on the organization's own absorptive capacity to transform external resources and eventually be applied to the organization's innovation activities.Therefore,this paper introduces absorptive capacity as a intervening variable to study the mediating role of absorptive capacity in the process of relational embeddedness affecting business model innovation.By reviewing the literature,this thesis proposes theoretical models and research hypotheses.on this basis,the questionnaire survey was conducted in Beijing,Shanghai,Shenzhen,Nanjing and Wuhan enterprises,the data of222 valid questionnaires collected were analyzed with SPSS20.0 and other statistical analysis software.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Relationship intensity and relationship quality which are the the two dimensions of relational embeddedness positively influence the two dimensions of business model innovation,efficiency-centered business model innovation and novelty-centered business model innovation;(2)The two dimensions of relational embeddedness,relationship intensity and relationship quality,positively influence the absorptive capacity;(3)Absorptive capacity positively influence the two dimensions of business model innovation: efficiency-centered business model innovation and novelty-centered business model innovation;(4)Absorptive capacity plays partial mediating effects of the relationship between the two dimensions of relational embeddedness which includes relationship intensity and relationship quality and the two dimensions of business model innovation which includes efficiency-centered business model innovation and novelty-centered business model innovation.It provides some practical implications for business model innovation.
