Based on the original literature,this paper discusses the development of vegetable growing industry in Northern Xinjiang during the period of the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China from the aspects of vegetable planting,policy regulation and market circulation.The first part generalizes the situation of vegetable planting in the western region before the unification,mainly from two aspects: vegetable varieties and vegetable cultivation.The vegetable varieties were divided into three categories: seasoning,main course and wild vegetables.In the order of time,the vegetable cultivation in the western regions of the Han and Tang Dynasties and the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties were respectively described.The second part expounds the development of vegetable growing industry in Northern Xinjiang after the unification of Xinjiang.Under the background of great changes in social production and lifestyle,the vegetable growing industry in North Xinjiang has developed rapidly.A large number of immigrants from mainland China moved to the north of Xinjiang to improve their vegetable growing techniques,increase the variety of vegetables,produce professional vegetable growers and diversify their sales.The third part expounds the further development of vegetable growing industry in Northern Xinjiang during the period of the Republic of China.During the period of the Republic of China,the variety of vegetable varieties,the expansion of the commercial circulation of vegetables,the emergence of professional vegetable shop,compared with the Qing Dynasty vegetable planting industry has been further developed.From the Qing Dynasty to the period of Xinjiang to the Republic of China,it was the most effective period for the development of agricultural economy in Xinjiang.As a part of the agricultural production,the vegetable planting industry has also been developed synchronously.In the Qing Dynasty,the shift of Xinjiang's political and economic focus promoted the rapid development of the planting industry in Northern Xinjiang,and the vegetable eating population promoted the development of vegetable growing industry.In this context,a large number of vegetable varieties wereintroduced into Xinjiang from the mainland.Advanced planting technology was popularized and the planting area was expanding.Vegetable growers specialized in vegetable cultivation were able to appear.The expansion of market demand also made professional vegetable shops appear.
