The three basic functions of enterprise management are operations management,marketing and financial accounting,and nowadays operations management stands out as the key element in business competitions.With the deepening of globalization,the traditional "error-free and stable operation" managerial concept has not been well adapted to catch up with the rapid changes of economic environment.Thus the goal of operations management gradually evolve into “lower cost,higher efficiency and controllable risk”.As operation excellence proves to be one of the core competitiveness of excellent modern financial institutions,banks are inevitably seeking for an immediate transformation for further development.In recent years,domestic commercial banks have begun to learn from their overseas counterparts and introduce new philosophies in operations management.Centralized background processing centers have been built to lower costs,enhance efficiency and control risks,with the hope of positive effects.Overall,the practices in both domestic and foreign banks have displayed a clear centralizing trend in operations management,which has become the core competitiveness of modern commercial banks.Based on various theories in operations management,this paper aims to take the centralized mode implemented in the JS Branch of AB Bank of China as an example,introducing the actual practices while analyzing the effects of this mode.In the paper,PEST analysis is used to give an account of the external environment of the bank from political,economic,social and technological perspectives,while SWOT analysis is used to analyze the bank's strengths,weaknesses,opportunities and threats after implementing such a centralized operation mode.On top of that,this paper suggests that the bank accelerate in building a more intelligent and light-weighted banking system,optimize its labor combinations,strengthen source control and background management,and facilitate internal communication.It also points out the need to streamline all outsourcing practices by tightening access,clarifying responsibilities,standardizing contracts and strengthening management.Other optimization suggestions include building up a capable and stable counter clerk team and a operations management talent pool,providing professional technical support,etc.
