Research On The Relationship Between Competitive Network And Performance Of Specialized Towns In Guangdong Province

The specialized town is an important form of industrial organization that supports the regional economic development of Guangdong.As of 2015,there are 399 specialized towns in Guangdong Province that are mainly distributed in 30 industries.The competition among specialized towns is remarkable.The research of traditional inter-industries competition originated from the SCP paradigm of the Harvard school.However,in recent years,the emergence of complex network analysis methods has provided a possibility for research among a large number of competing entities,and is no longer limited to research between several subjects.This paper is based on Yang Jianmei(2005),which introduced the complex network method into industrial organization analysis,introduced the competitive relationship between enterprises into the problem of competition among specialized towns,and described the competitive relationship by industry rather than product.This is an innovation in applied research.Using the data of specialized towns in Guangdong Province from 2006 to 2015,the paper constructed the network of competitive relationships among specialized towns,and established the weight indicator of competitive relationships by market mutuality and distance.The structural characteristics and evolutionary trends of the competitive network between specialized towns were analyzed,and further the effect of the competition among towns on the performance of specialized towns was explored.The main conclusions are as follows:First,from 2006 to 2015,Guangdong's specific economy has developed rapidly,its scale has continued to expand,and the competitive relationship among specialized towns has also increased.At the same time,the establishment and termination of the competitive relationship between specialized towns in Guangdong Province is a relatively common phenomenon.There are certain fluctuation in the development of the specialized town economy,and the evolution of the competitive relationship network is significant.Second,there is a gap in the development of different characteristic industries,and the scale of characteristic industries such as electronic and electrical appliances,textile and clothing,handicrafts,seafood,building materials,food,furniture,machinery,economic crops,tourism,ceramics,hardware,and breeding are relatively large.And this unbalanced situationhas been improved,the competitive relationship of the originally weak industries such as lighting,logistics,footwear,food,medicine,printing and packaging has gradually increased.Third,there are specialized towns with relatively large out weight degree or in weight degree.The Beijiao Town,Fengxi District,Guzhen Town,Dachong Town,Guxiang Town and Xinjin Subdistrict exerted greater competitive pressure on other specialized towns of Guangdong in ten years.They were relatively leading in their respective industries and had obvious competitive advantages.The Fengtang Town,Dongfeng Town,Nantou Town and Hetang Town were under competitive pressure from other specialized towns in ten years.They were in a relatively inferior position and had more constraint.Fourth,Humen Town,Chencun Town,Dalang Town,Changping Town and Qingxi Town are specialized towns with strong development strength and high stability.These five towns are at the core of the homogeneous network,and establish stable and orderly competitive relationships with many other specialized towns.They are representatives in the development of specific economy in Guangdong Province.Fifth,the competitive relationship of Genghe Town,Sanjiao Town,and Yangang Town fluctuates significantly.The exit phenomenon of the competitive relationships is more obvious.And these specialized towns face greater risks and uncertainties in the process of specific economy development in Guangdong Province,which has a greater impact on the stability of the overall network of competitive relationships.Sixth,Humen Town,Dalang Town,Triangle Town and Chencun Town have great influence on the overall innovation level of Guangdong's specific economy.They are in a relatively stable intermediate position in the newly-built network of competitive relationships,can control or block the flow and diffusion of certain innovative elements in the network,and thus affect the innovative development level of Guangdong's specific economy..Seventh,the out weight degree and in weight degree of specialized towns in the competitive relationship network have inverted U-shaped relationships with specialized towns' output performance and innovation performance,and the impact of out weight degree on performance is more significant,but the effect of in weight degree on performance is less obvious.In addition,the number of specific economic enterprises has a significant positive effect on the output performance and innovation performance of specialized towns.Theintensity of public science and technology input has a significant negative effect on the output performance,and has a significant positive effect on innovation performance.
