With the development of economic globalization and the deepening of the international division of labor, agricultural industries in most countries and regions in the world have been actively or passively included in global value chains. The position in the value chain is crucial to the development of agriculture in a country or region.Developed countries have occupied high-end links in the value chain because they possess advanced technology and perfect markets, while developing countries and regions can only rely on cheap production costs and natural resources to stay at the low end of the value chain. In order to avoid being locked into the low end of the global value chain for a long time,it is of great significance and necessity to accurately determine the status of a country's agriculture in the global value chain. In order to better develop its own agriculture, the host country's foreign direct investment scale is also expanding year by year. The host country hopes to use foreign capital to bring about the capital, technology and management experience to better develop its own agriculture, thereby enhancing its agricultural industry's status in the global value chain. This study focuses on the impact of foreign direct investment on the improvement of the value of the host country's agricultural value chain, the impact of foreign direct investment on the improvement of the host country's agricultural value chain on the basis of comprehensive research on the impact of the integrated global value chain and foreign direct investment on the host country.,Using the five-digit agricultural product export data classified under the International Trade Standards 2001-2015 to calculate the technical complexity of exports of the G20 member states,as an indicator of the status of the value chain, and using the remaining member countries as comparison targets to judge China The position of agriculture in the global value chain.Afterwards,on the basis of previous studies, this paper uses the panel data of the G20 member countries from 2001 to 2015 to conduct a regression analysis and empirically analyzes the impact of foreign direct investment on the position of the host country's agriculture in the global value chain. The study found that:(1)From 2001 to 2015,the G20's agricultural product technical complexity index and agricultural export technical complexity both showed a general trend of growth.Although the complexity of China's agricultural export technology is continuously increasing, the gap between the overall level of the world's agriculture and the world is gradually narrowing, but the gap with the world's highest level is continuously widening.China's agriculture is still at the low end of the global value chain.(2)Foreign direct investment does not significantly improve the status of the host country's agriculture in the global value chain, and it may even lead to a relative decline in the level of technical complexity of agricultural exports, while the host country's level of outward foreign direct investment and opening-up to its exporting technological complexity.Improvement plays a positive role. Finally, according to the results of data analysis and empirical analysis, this paper proposes related policy recommendations.
