Agriculture is vital to the livelihood of every nation. It provides us with the necessities of life and is the foundation of all national economies. In particular, for developing countries, agriculture accounts for a higher proportion of its national economy. When participating in the global value chain division, developing countries can only be forced to engage in low-value-add processing activities because of the disadvantages in labor and technology. So developing countries can only get small profits. Therefore, this paper focuses on the study of developing countries’ position in Global Agricultural Value Chain and its influencing factors.Firstly, this paper makes a theoretical analysis. On the one hand,it reviews the relevant literature on the position in Global Agricultural Value Chain, and determines the measurement index of the position and its main influencing factors. On the other hand, this paper theoretically analyses the mechanism of the main factors influencing the position of developing countries in Global Agricultural Value Chain. Then, based on the measurement of export sophistication of Hausmann(2007),by adopting the SITC3-3 digital agricultural export data of UN Comtrade Database, this paper measured agricultural products’ export sophistication of 41 countries. Results show that agricultural products’ export sophistication of developing countries’ are on the rise, but the difference between the average of developing countries’ and the country’s with the highest and the difference between the average of developing countries’ and the average of the world’s increase gradually. This suggests that developing countries have a low position in the agricultural global value chain. This paper do a empirical test using 33 developing countries’ data, and results show that human capital, physical capital,r&d investment, financial service level and institution are positively influencing developing countries’ position.while vertical specialization has an negative influence. And through comparative analyses,it is found that China’s main advantages are reflected in material capital and openness to the outside world, but its disadvantages in r&d investment and human capital are very obvious.Based on the above analyses,it puts forward Suggestions: paying attention to the accumulation of human capital, increasing investment in R&D,increasing openness to the outside world, and improving financial services.
