Collaborative learning is a process in which members study together as a group to complete a task. With the wide application of collaboration management software, collaborative learning groups are increasingly used in education, training, virtual teams, collaborative innovation and other various kinds of workplaces.Collaborative learning is considered as a critical means to promote organization innovation. How to improve group members' engagement, integrate the knowledge resource within the group and have an effective collaborative learning efficiency are cores of the management of collaborative learning groups. It is worth noting that collaboration management technology doesn't mean high teamwork engagement and it's even more difficult to ensure the engagement. In addition, research about group members' teamwork engagement focuses on face-to-face collaborative learning. Therefore,it's quite significant to investigate the teamwork engagement in collaborative learning groups under the context of collaboration management software. This research intends to explore the mechanism of how to promote group members' engagement under the context of collaboration management software from the perspectives of theory mechanism and management prediction.Firstly,we need to examine the differences between the mechanism of group members' engagement under the context of collaboration management and traditional group members' engagement. What changes do collaboration management software bring to the group work and how these changes affect members' engagement? Secondly, from the view of management prediction based on members' engagement mechanism, how can we predict critical engagement behavior based on the mechanism of teamwork engagement and realize predictive management to support organizational interference of groups? In order to answer these research questions, this paper designed two empirical sub-studies to investigate group members' engagement. We designed one experiment with 181 participants who were required to use Slack to cooperate.Based on the questionnaires in experiment and 4137 records from ten group on Slack in one month, the results of mechanism explanation in Study 1 show that members' mutual trust, social influence and reward valence have positive effect on teamwork engagement.Teamwork engagement promotes personal success, including learning and work satisfaction.Meanwhile, task complexity has no moderation effect on the relationship between teamwork engagement and personal success. The predication of critical engagement behavior in Study 2 categorizes the Slack text and finds that problem-solving engagement behavior is affected by coordination and easy task-related engagement behaviors. That is to say, when there are many coordination and easy task-related engagement behaviors in groups, the problem-solving engagement behaviors will be promoted. In addition,social-related engagement behaviors also promote the coordination and easy task-related behaviors.Lastly, this paper shows the discussion and analysis about the results of these two studies. The theoretical implications, practical implications, limitations of our study and future research are also presented.
