The current Chinese economy needs a supply-side reform,its focus area is the manufacturing industry,and inventory management is a very important aspect in the manufacturing enterprises as an important part of corporate cost management,so how to improve inventory management becomes the key to improve manufacturing competitiveness.A Company is a typical multinational manufacturing enterprise,the type of operation is Assemble-to-Order.Its raw materials and purchased parts are from abroad and the procurement cycle is long,so A Company has high requirements to resource planning,cost control and delivery control.Since A Company have many types of products and a large number of parts,inventory management is very important for A Company.This paper firstly describes and analyzes parts inventory management problems exists in A Company,such as unreasonable sorting,inaccurate demand forecast and high occupancy costs;and then comprehensively analyzes the reasons of company's inventory management issues from several angles like lack of effective inventory classification methods,demand forecasting model is simple,safety stock setting is too high and inventory management's informationization is low.Then proposes solving strategies for the above reasons on this basis: using ABC Classification to classify parts,develop different inventory management policies;using nonlinear model the cubic exponential smoothing method to improve the prediction of components demand;establishing reasonable safety stock of purchased parts to reduce inventory,relieve warehouse backlog;giving suggestions for the informationization of the personnel and inventory management.Finally,summarizes and proposes how to implement improvement plans.
