Communities,as the basic unit of urban life,carry many social functions,closely linked with all aspects of people’s lives.With the introduction policy " Several Opinions of the Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council on Further Strengthening the Planning,Construction and Management of Cities" in 6 February,2016,as well as people’s growing demand for "spiritual life" in the community.With the active advocacy and promotion by all levels of government,the traditional Gated community is moving positively toward a more open community.Shanghai,Guangzhou and other first-tier cities in China take the first place to try to adjust and optimize the function and appearance of the community in some pilot communities.Public art,as one of the media that can intervene in the future public space of the community,create a cultural atmosphere in the community and stimulate the vitality of the community,is a better choice.Therefore,this article attempts to study the relationship between public art and community building and explore how to better integrate public art with community public life so as to make the community environment more beautiful,the community life more rich and the community more diverse.This paper further summarizes the relevant theories of public art involvement in the community building by inducing and thinking about the establishment of relevant document and reference material for open communities in the domestic and Foreign.At the same time,this paper analyses and summarizes the outstanding problems facing the current community and the cultural needs of community residents by field investigation and questionnaires on the pilot cities in major cities in China such as Shanghai and Shenzhen.Combining with the outstanding cases of public art involvement in the community in the domestic and Foreign,it explores the forms and methods of reference and practical significance of public art involvement in the community building.
