This thesis taking Gaojiaya architectural complex in Wangs' courtyard,located in Jingsheng town,Lingshi county,Shanxi Province as the object of analysis,this thesis takes the perspective and theoretical method of folklore to re-construct Gaojiaya architectural complex appearance and explains"what factors affect and determine the sketch shape of the building composition in Gaojiaya architectural complex","what is the cultural connotation behind Gaojiaya architecture complex?","how are the Colorful Three Sculptures created?" and"how does architecture interact with human beings,influence each other,and participate in the construction and reproduction of social culture?It is of positive significance to the construction of new-type urbanization and new countryside,the revival of Chinese traditional architectural culture,the domestication of foreign architectural anthropology theories and the theorization of traditional architectural research.The first chapter of this thesis organizes the main content from three aspects of historical background,the geographical environment,the characteristics of the Gaojiayia architectural complex in the time and space of the context,which facilitates us to have a more comprehensive understanding of the Gaojiayia building complex construction logically.In the second chapter,the author with local cultural background from the perspective of"the culture other"records the results of the field work on the Gaojiaya complex.From the perspective of folklore,this chapter re-constructs the sketch structure of Gaojiaya architectural complex in the sequence of spatial order,divides The Gaojiaya architectural complex into three parts:Dunhou(honest and sincere)residence,Ningrui(auspicious)residence and communal buildings,which is the basis of the following two chapters of architectural analysis.The third chapter illuminates and analyzes the cultural phenomenon of the Gaojiaya architecture complex.Using some theories of Fraser's"similarity law",Chinese traditional fengshui,Confucian norms and Confucian classics,three parts in this chapter respectively interpret the symbolization of culture,the geomantic culture and the Confucian culture,which are the important factors that affect Gaojiaya buildings housing form features.Chapter four attempts to innovate and domesticate the existing folklore theories.Section One applies the oral formulaic theory and performance theory,which both are now utilized to study the oral literature more frequently in folk science.This section regards the process of constructing building as a performance,and artisans with the member of the Wangs and its network of other people's interaction in the inherent program guide the craftsmen to create the art work.Based on bourdieu's"field-habitus"theory,the second section discusses the role of large and small fields inside and outside the palace in the construction of people's habitus.The third section,based on the research of many anthropologists on the family house and society,analyzes how the folk house architecture participates in the construction of family pattern,kinship system and ancestor worship ceremony,which provides localized examples for the dynamic function of architecture.Finally,we can draw the conclusion that the traditional residential building is the product of a series of social and cultural factors,meanwhile,material conditions and environment play a certain role in modifying its form.However,traditional residential architecture is not only a material symbol of the social culture of the ethnic group to which it belongs,but also a material space with"initiative".The interaction and shaping between architecture and human beings play an irreplaceable role in the construction and reproduction of social culture.
