Liukeng is an ancient village of Le’an county,Fuzhou city,Jiangxi provice.It has a long history and thick humanistic.It’s also an old county with strong artistic flavor,which has been known as “The First Village of Ancient Times” and the epitome of ancient Chinese civilization.Among the rich culture and art of Liukeng,there are nearly six hundred ancient plaques which are the noticeable and important part.Liukeng has the maximum number of plaques in current rural areas(village as unit).The generation and development of Liukeng plaques has the most intimate relationship to the imperial fame,ethical education,building decoration etc.of Liukeng people.Liukeng plaques were born because of the needing of manifest imperial fame,advocating ethical atmosphere and mansion building decoration and so on.The large number of Liukeng plaques were distributed in different streets and lanes in different period,which makes people feel that the art of Liukeng plaques is everywhere.Most of Liukeng plaques were written by imperial official,native calligraphers of different period.The plaque styles include seal,official script,regular script,and running script etc.While the inscription and diction,style and the use of seals are very fastidious.It displayed the elegant and simple calligraphic art.The material of Liukeng plaques are plentiful and diverse,but mainly wood,brick,stone and wall.It is extremely exquisite of the plaque making,coloring with lacquer,ornament and engraving and other crafts.At present,the Liukeng plaques have been partially damaged,protecting and inheriting has been urgent.Liukeng palques have historical culture,literature,art,cultural relics and ornamental values.The development and use of its artistic and cultural values can contribute to Liukeng tourism economic and social development.
