Purpose:To understand the current status of self care activities and social support in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, analyze the influencing factors of self care activities and social support in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and explore the correlation among self care activities, social support and Neuropathy Total Symptom Score-6.Provide theoretical basis for formulating nursing intervention for patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and find ways to improve the symptoms of neuropathy.Objects and methods:A questionnaire survey was performed on patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy in a provincial tertiary hospital who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria for diabetes using convenience sampling method.Collect and organize relevant information, use Excel to establish a database, use SPSS20.0 for statistical analysis and processing.Measurement data is expressed by mean±standard deviation, count data is expressed by frequency and composition ratio;single factor analysis of self care activities and social support adopts t test or single factor analysis of variance, and multiple linear regression is used to influence factors of self care activities and social support.Correlation adopts Pearson or Spearman correlation analysis method.Results:1.The total score of the self care activities in 155 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy was(49.86±11.36),dietary management(3.90±0.95),exercise management(3.99±2.10),monitoring blood glucose(4.04±1.87),foot self-care(3.11±2.61),medication compliance(5.97±1.54).There were 31 smokers in the sample, who smoked 9.74 cigarettes on average everyday.Genders, age, occupation, living situation, monthly income, therapeutic method were the main influence factors of the self care activities(p<0.05).2.The total score of social support in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy was(30.22±7.02),objective support score was(7.83±2.79),subjective support score was(16.11±3.60),support using degree of scores was(6.28±2.24).Social support in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy was lower than that of norm of China(p<0.05).Age,residence,occupation,whether living alone, monthly income,Hb A1 C were the main influence factors of the social support(p <0.05).3.Neuropathy Total Symptom Score-6 had a negative correlation with the self care activities(r=-0.430,p<0.001).Neuropathy Total Symptom Score-6 had a negative correlation with dietary management(r=-0.263,p<0.01),exercise management(r=-0.347,p<0.001)and foot self-care(r=-0.420,p<0.001).4.Neuropathy Total Symptom Score-6 had a negative correlation with the social support(r=-0.534,p<0.001;r=-0.395,p<0.001;r=-0.437,p<0.001;r=-0.426,p<0.001).5.The social support had a positive correlation with the self care activities(r=0.380,p<0.01).Objective support score had a positive correlation with dietary management(r=0.270,p<0.01),exercise management(r=0.246,p<0.01),monitoring blood glucose(r=0.268,p<0.01),foot self-care(r=0.208,p<0.01),medication compliance(r=0.254,p<0.01).Subjective support score had a positive correlation with monitoring blood glucose(r=0.195,p<0.05),foot self-care(r=0.215,p<0.01).Support using degree of score had a positive correlation with dietary management(r=0.221,p<0.01),exercise management(r=0.315,p<0.01),monitoring blood glucose(r=0.232,p<0.01),foot self-care(r=0.408,p<0.01).Conclusion:1.Self care activities of patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy remained to be further improved, especially the foot care.Genders, age, occupation, living situation, monthly income, therapeutic method were the main influence factors of the self care activities.2.Social support in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy was lower than that of norm of China.Age,residence, occupation, living situation, monthly income,Hb A1 C were the main influence factors of the social support.3.Neuropathy Total Symptom Score-6 of patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy interact with their dietary management, exercise management and foot self-care.Negative correlation between Neuropathy Total Symptom Score-6 and social support in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.4.The social support had a positive correlation with the self care activities. The higher the level of social support, the higher the score of self care activities.
