"The Primary School English Outline" pointed out: "Interest is a good teacher for language learning." Due to the characteristics of students and the requirements of the development of the times,teachers need to make professional changes in teaching,inspire students' interest,and further improve the English teaching efficiency in primary schools.In recent years,Game Teaching Method shows strong vitality in primary school English teaching.This new teaching method is not only loved by teachers but is also loved by primary school students.Its features,educational functions and learning mechanisms provide the new approach to the realization of educational philosophy advocated by the new curriculum reform.However,teachers still have some problems in designing and using games,which affects the teaching effect of games.Based on the above considerations,this article defines the concept of games and game teaching methods by reading a large number of relevant documents,analyzing the current research status of game teaching methods at home and abroad,summarizing the characteristics,principles and classification of game teaching methods,and then the relevant theoretical basis is combed to further elaborate the significance and feasibility of the topic.The author took the students of grades 1 to 3of the Shanghai S elementary school as the research object,and using the questionnaire survey method and the interview method to investigate the students and the teachers respectively,and using the observation method to introduce and discuss the current situation of the implementation of the game teaching method in English teaching in primary schools,and analyzing the survey results in depth.This study found that game teaching method has both advantages and disadvantages in English teaching by investigating.The game teaching method can play an active role in promoting student development,teacher development,and teaching effectiveness.At the same time,due to the influence of various factors,there are three main problems in the implementation of English teaching in the game teaching method.In terms of game design: teachers lack of professional knowledge,game designing lack of innovation,serious formalization of game design,and game designing goes beyond pragmatic purposes.In terms of game participation: students' participation is limited and teacher-student interaction is insufficient.In the aspect ofgame regulation and control: classroom discipline is difficult to maintain,teachers' preparation time for students is insufficient,and teachers' grasp of game difficulty is not suitable.In response to these three issues,this paper presents corresponding improvement strategies.The author hopes that the game teaching method can be promoted to develop better and the first-line teachers can better use the game teaching method to specify the direction by the above strategies.
