The elementary stage is the basic stage of life development.As one of the main subjects of elementary school,the English subject is highly concerned by the society.In order for students to learn English knowledge more effectively and interestingly,the application of game teaching method is particularly important.Stimulate students' learning initiative,cultivate their interest in learning,and experience the joy of learning English while effectively acquiring knowledge of English.China's “Primary School English Curriculum Standards” also clearly proposes the teaching goal of using English as a game.The game teaching method has gradually shown a strong vitality in English teaching in primary schools,which has an important role in improving traditional boring classroom teaching.However,in recent years,the application status of game teaching methods is not optimistic.Due to many factors,teachers do not fully understand the nature of game teaching,and they do not have sufficient psychological understanding of elementary school students.It is difficult to effectively stimulate students' interest.The teaching effect is greatly reduced.This article takes X elementary school as an example.It mainly uses literature research method and survey research method to investigate and interview students and English teachers in middle and senior grades respectively.It researches and discusses the current status of the implementation of game teaching methods in English teaching in elementary schools.The results are analyzed in depth and provide feasible suggestions for improving the current situation of English game teaching in primary schools.The main contents of this study are as follows:Part 1: Introduction.It mainly includes the raising of questions,the significance of research,a review of current research status at home and abroad,research ideas and research methods.Part 2: define the concepts of “games” and “game teaching methods”,and develop a deep understanding of related theories such as Second Language Acquisition Theory,Multiple Intelligence Theory,and Constructivist Theory.Then it analyzes the principles and characteristics of primary school English game teaching method,including the principle of student subjectivity,real interest,real pragmatics and dynamic adjustment,as well as the characteristics of education,competition and language.Part 3: It mainly investigates the current situation of the application of game teaching method in the English teaching of X elementary school.It briefly introduces the purpose of the survey and the objects of the survey,and organizes and analyzes the data recovered from the questionnaire survey and the information obtained from the interview.The application status of game teaching method in elementary school English classroom is presented.Part 4: Summarizing the problems based on the research results,the problems found are: teachers' limited knowledge of game teaching methods,classroom discipline is difficult to control,large class teaching is not conducive to game teaching,game teaching evaluation is slightly negative,and all students Participation in reading is not high,and the form of the game is single and old-fashioned.In view of the existing problems,the author believes that the reasons for the above problems may be as follows: the school's teaching training is not in place,the students' self-discipline is lacking,the learning environment is limited,and the teachers' evaluation knowledge is biased and inclined to focus on top students and teachers' innovative ability needs to be strengthened.Part 5: Based on the above-mentioned problems,combined with relevant literature and personal opinions,put forward the following countermeasures of three dimensions and nine aspects,at the school level: Introduce high-quality resources,increase training guidance;organize teachers to discuss learning,complement each other to improve their ability;student level: correct learning attitude,strengthen Learning consciousness;improve self-discipline ability and develop good habits;teacher level: set reasonable games for large class teaching;pay attention to game teaching evaluation and give feedback to students in a timely manner;design layered teaching and pay attention to all students;increase awareness of innovation and enrich game forms;Strengthen classroom management and standardize student behavior.This article takes primary school English game teaching classroom as a practical starting point,combines the psychological characteristics of primary school students and teachers' own teaching practice,and on the basis of analyzing the current situation of primary school English classroom game teaching,proposes corresponding game teaching from the three levels of school,students and teachers.With a view to achieve a more impressive effect of primary school English teaching.
