Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue" Diverse Interpretation Research

Rhapsody in blue composed by George Gershwin has been considered as a peakcomposition of the jazz symphony.With an unprecedented impact,bringing a golden age to music in the United States even around the world.The author,by studying the works by multiple versions of the existing and found the work has diversified characteristics,not only the form of the performance,or change the score,but also add some extra parts in it.Each performer has an unique explanation of the thoughts,thesse second of the unique innovation represents the development of jazz performance.This paper consists of introduction,text and conclusion,in the introduction,the author discussed about the works of the current domestic existing studies in detail,and found some so far has not been the blank of the research,that is the motivation and significance of my article,bring up the innovation points of the research.In the first chapter,through the detailed description of Gershwin's life and historical background,combined his background?life experience and character traits,summed up his personality characteristics of performance.In the second chapter,firstly analyze the composition background of Rhapsody in blue,then through the comparison and study of different versions of the performance,from the score to the recording,from Gershwin himself version,the author respectively from rhythm?rhythm type?ornaments,structure,these three aspects as important entry points,one by one to parse of various elements of impromptu in deductive version in detail.In the third chapter,the author explain that there are many different arrangements for playing this work,then said the composition of the improvisational compositions from two aspects,the one is based of the scores and the beyond the scores,are respectively taken into account,and the commonness and individuality of these improvisations are compared in detail.These characteristics due to the development of the society,the evolution of the playing style and aesthetic of people hearing improve or instrument,among them,the music playing style to the evolution of accounting for a large part of proportion.Of course,they are not enough to completely summarized the work of the cause of the performance characteristics,because times are changing,music is developing rapidly,maybe tomorrow will beappear a different kind of new way of interpretation,or the emergence of a new playing style.To sum up,this dissertation aims to explore the diversity of playing this work in details,start from the Gershwin himself playing version,then combined with some existing can search to deduce interpretation of the work,summarized out Gershwin jazz performance characteristics of his time.At the same time,it also explores the characteristics and causes of this work in the present time with the development of the times and the evolution of cultural history.It is beneficial for people to develop the thought of the jazz playing or performance,make the music playing forms with a increasing number,makes the interpretation in variety and the period feeling would become more powerful.
