Edward Grieg is one of the most important composers in national music factionin the second half of the nineteenth Century in Norway. His art creation developedthe national music.Impressionism contained in harmony of his art creationalso deeply affected later impressionism faction. This article will discuss Grieg’s"Ballade for piano in g minor"Op.24,which reflects nationality and innovativeharmonic characteristics of Grieg music. From the angle of music quality, it ranks inthe same level with the Ballade of Schuhmann and Chopin’s. Therefore, this workcontains high performance and Research value and it is also a cutoff point for us tounderstand, explore, and study the culture folk music of Norway.The main body contains three parts: the first part discusses the workbackground comprehensively from three aspects of the Norway national culture andfolk music style, the life of Grieg,and the creation background for piano Ballade in Gminor.The second part will interpret Ballade for piano in g minor in details from theaspects of structure, theme, harmony, tonal, rhythm and pattern of the work. The thirdpart will make a comprehensive exposition for the "Ballade for piano in gminor"Op.24interpretation.
