Wu Zuxiang was a special writer in the Chinese modern literary arena.He watched up and downs of the south of Anhui province in a novelist eye,and rationally worked out the origin of corrupted rural society in his scholar mind.Meanwhile,he used mellow narrative technique to improve narrative tension and aesthetic space,which offered a unique art model to modern novels.Based on it,this thesis tried to use narratology and the rhetoric of fiction as theoretical support,seek specific forms of expression of “narrative rhetoric”,clearly see the unique writing practice of Wu,and finally give a reasonable and convincing value discussion and academic judge.“Narrative rhetoric” emphasizes the use of narrative techniques and rhetorical strategies.Therefore,the logic of writing is different from that of works in the traditional thesis.On the basis of analyzing the creative background and artistic expression of narrative rhetoric,this thesis try to discuss the aesthetic pattern in Wu Zuxiang's novels.The purpose of the exordium is to present all of Wu Zuxiang's creation overview and the research summary about him,define and point the narrative rhetoric through distinguishing the concepts of the rhetoric and the rhetoric of fiction.The first chapter is the creative background of narrative rhetoric.Firstly,the influence of childhood experience.Wu Zuxiang grew up in Maolin,special nature and culture in the south of Anhui province formed his aethestic standard and thought style,which inspired him to create his novels with abundant Southern Anhui features.Secondly,diversified culture effects by both China and the west.Wu Zuxiang was a writer affected by classical literature,may fourth new-vernacular literature as well as literature concepts and scientific theories in the west countries.He digested all of those things and reflected them on his novels and formed a unique creative literature style.Thirdly,the position of scholar-type novelist.Wu Zuxiang put rational sense into literature creation as well as preserved the literariness and stuck to pure literature,all of which makes him a scholar-type novelist.The second chapter is the artistic expression of narrative rhetoric.Firstly,flexiblenarrative perspectives.According to different expression needs,Wu Zuxiang cautiously chose first-person limited perspective and third-person whole perspective to describe different kinds of miserable conditions.Secondly,the narrative images which ends to the words,but not to their message.Wu Zuxiang was good at using intentions,he expressed the thinking towards time and reality with space image,nature image,humanity image and so on.Thirdly,eclectic narrative structure.Wu Zuxiang flexibly used cross-sectional structure and double-clue structure and montage structure so as to make the works have unique artistic and aesthetic style.The third chapter is the effect pattern of narrative rhetoric.Firstly,rural narration under perspective of modernity.Wu Zuxiang saw his hometown under internal and external problems from the perspective of modernity,exposed the feudal system and analyzed the bankrupt countryside,which led him to a deep anxiety towards the epoch.Secondly,moral narration under the influence of rational sense.The novels written by Wu zuxiang were full of sharp morality thesis.He saw the evil-hiding countryside in a rational eye,dug complexity and possibility of people,demonstrating the profound narrative space and moral judgement.Thirdly,ideological narration under aesthetic expectation.Wu Zuxiang emphasized that literature reflected reality,he also tried his best to insist on the literariness and artistry in the works,created classical works with thought and artistry,so that he could add vivid literature charm and art infection into realistic ideological narration.The conclusion is based on the above,mainly introduced inductive generalization on the marginal writer style of Wu Zuxiang from a macroscopical perspective and his uniqueness in modern history literature,so as to think more academic research value of Wu Zuxiang and his novels.
